Ryan Lochte went to Rio for the Olympics, he won a gold medal in men's 800-meter freestyle relay, and then he and his friends decided to go enjoy themselves. In the course of it all, they commit a mea culpa. This snafu is exaggerated by Lochte and his comrades and the Rio Police. Finally, he comes back to his senses and apologized for the exaggeration. Unfortunately, all his sponsors cut off fromhim and the people cried for his blood.
This is all contrary to the bible that encourages sinners and mere mortals to forgive 490 times a day. I don’t know where human beings get the righteousness to always pretend that they are holding others accountable, even for mere peccadilloes. They always have this pretext of rancor and spite that they want to teach him a lesson. Life is too hard enough , so we should encourage one another unto good works and not seek an opportunity to destroy them. Some people seem to enjoy en unbridled schadenfreude unparalleled with even those of Lamech.
The reason I called it a mea culpa is because him and his cohorts all accepted that it was a fault they brought upon themselves. I also called it a snafu because it was not a problem, until Lochte's mother made a round on the press to sully the Brazilian government. If they initially did not find any problem with it aster he paid them, then it should not be a cause for alarm after. It did become a cause for alarm because all of them" the gas station, Lochte and his group and the Brazilian government wanted to protected their dignity.
In Honig v Doe (1988), the Supreme Court ruled that, a student should not be expelled or disciplined for an infraction that was caused by his or her disability. Lohcte at the time of the vandalism was drunk, so he did not know what he was doing. That is why the gas station was satisfied with the restitution. Whatever he did, it was caused by his drunken stupor. In his whole life, he was never broken a toilet door, talk less of a normal door because that is not him.
Breaking a toilet door and paying for it is and should have been good enough because any other punishment is a violation of his 8th Amendment which states, “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted." Therefore, any other punishment should have overlooked by the mere fact that he was drunk and he made restitution.
You do not teach a man a lesson by shooting him on the head; you shoot him on his toes. His sponsors are not teaching him any lesson; they should stick with him, but they should reduce the money until he has shown full compunction. Who will still be alive If God physically killed everyone who sinned? Who will still be married today, if spouses divorced each time a spouse did something they did not like? Humans keep making themselves too righteous than even God.
People should stop pretending that they are so angry because these athletes are role models. If you as a parent, brother, sister or relative cannot serve as a role model to your family, you should not transfer your responsibility to these sports, movies and music stars. It is transferred irresponsibility.
Jesus said, “…Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” (John 8:11). We are talking here of a woman who was caught red handed in flagrant adultery, yet Jesus tells her he does not condemn her. When are we as humans going to start saying, “Go and sin no more?”
One time again Jesus found a disabled man at the pool of Bethesda who could not seize the opportunity to jump into the pool for his miraculous healings from the water stirring of the angel. Jesus healed him. Later, he found the man at the temple and he told him, “Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.” John 5:14. The man’s condition was caused by the sin, yet Jesus reminded him, “I forgive you, go and sin no more. What about people telling Ryan Lochte, “You have made your mistake, learn from it and do not repeat it again.
Instead like blood suckers, they cry “punish him,” “take away his medals,” “ban him for life,” “lock him up” and so on and so forth. I am talking here of a young man who could not recollect a version of his incidence because he was drunk. The Rio people exaggerated the story themselves.
Finally, on that line I will reiterate the position of the Bible. Since no one was hurt, the damaged property was paid for, Ryan Lochte suffered more by losing his endorsements, and he had apologized and accepted he embellished his account, and God will accept his repentance. On that bases, man who is unclean and unable to apply justice should have followed suite. The saddest thing is that those who act like Shylock, seeking to extract a pound of flesh cannot even do it without spoiling blood. They cannot come to equity because not only their hands, their legs, mouths, bodies and entire lives are dirty. You should stop trying to apply justice only when others are concerned. You are not better!
Until then, shame to those companies that withdrew their sponsorships.

Hope you are well. Please, you are good at researching on controversial topics like nakedness in public. So, could you tell us what you think? These radical liberals are making a big deal out of Melania Trump appearing naked in public as a model. I have tried to put some water into their empty skulls and they are still bent on arguing. May be you should have the final word. First of all she is no longer modeling .
Dear Rev. Awasom, thanks for the question and sorry for the late reply. I had some unforeseen imperatives. Nonetheless, it is better late than never. We will first define nudity before we can ascertain whether she was naked or not. The main question is whose law or whose values are we going to use, since nudity does not mean the same thing to every culture? In the Bodi tribe, Ethiopia, walking naked is normalcy. In the West, walking naked is illegal only when you are in public. If walking naked is a sin, then it would be a sin, whether in private or in public. In Holland and Germany, public nudity is tolerated. Still in the West, they have nudists camps. That is what makes the morality or immorality of nudity complex. Which means that, humanity is unable to make any determination, since no culture is perfect. When the relativism of human morality fails to generate a common consensus as absolute, we are obliged to look without the human race for an absolute. That is when God comes in.
The only person with a perfect law is God. Therefore, we will be discussing nudity per the laws of God and whether according to biblical considerations, Melania Trump was naked by modeling. Through biblical exploration, the conclusion is clear that nudity is when an individual exposes their penis or vagina and not even their buttocks or their breasts. After Adam and Eve had sinned by eating the forbidden fruit, the Bible says, “And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.” Genesis 3:7. They made themselves apron. If nakedness had included the breasts and the entire body, then when Adam and Eve made themselves aprons with fig leaves to cover themselves, God would had made them clothes that covered their entire body. Instead, he too made them skirts from animal skin to cover them as we read from the Bible, “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” Genesis 3:21. What is clearer in this passage is that sin has made nakedness a shameful thing. In other words, without sin, nakedness had no shame since that is the way mankind was made. Mankind wasn’t made with clothes; otherwise, God would have made man with clothes from the onset. The question is what is nakedness? Let us say that this passage does not clearly state if the coats of skin that God made covered their entire body or not, we can make a horizontal interpretation by looking at other passages.
God had replaced the leaves with animal skin. The aprons mentioned is Genesis 3:7 is translated as chăgôrâh, a Hebrew term for the English expression “belt for the waist.” No time in history was the belt worn all over the body. Those leaves were meant to cover only their genitals, which is why some have misinterpreted that the sin was sexual in nature. We would need to look into the bible to see when the word apron has been used to state clearly if an apron could be worn above the waist or below the waist. One other occasion where the Bible uses the word apron is in Acts 19:12. Therein it is used as “narrow covering.” A narrow covering cannot cover the entire body. The conclusion would be that when Adam and Eve sinned, God only covered their genitals. As such, the breasts of Melani would not be faulted as nudity. However, that is merely descriptive. We will need something more prescriptive to enforce as law or doctrine.
In Genesis 20:26, God tells Moses, “Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.” Why would God tell Moses not to build an altar with a second floor or to put the altar where they have to ascend into it by climbing stairs? In the course of climbing stairs, one leaves themselves exposed, and it would be easier to see your genitals. The priests wore garments or robes without underwear. That is why it would have been easier to see their nakedness, if they were climbing the stairs. By God telling them not to expose their nakedness, he was telling Israel not to show their nakedness to anyone. He makes it more explicit that nakedness is only shameful when you show it to people who have no business seeing it.
Therefore, Melania Trump would be nude if she took pictures exposing her vagina and not only her breasts. If there are not such pictures and videos, not even Bible condemns her. If Melania Trump was walking naked in her garden or with her husband, and someone sneaked around, took some pictures, the sin is that of the thief to bare and not Melania’s because we do not punish victims of theft or crime. If Melania was making a photo-shoot whereby the photographer and others of the team saw her naked, the burden of the sin is placed on the job, just as the soldier who kills at war does not bear the sin of murder for killing at war.
Until then, I hope I have shone some light.

People always ask me each time I meet a new person, “Do you have family here?” Sometimes, when I meet a white person, he or she always...
