Kathryn Knott: A Victim of the Underprivileged, Unentitled and Jungle justice.

Kathryn Knott.

When you hear a story like this, you immediately know that this country is not too civilized as it pretends to be. For example, this one where a man killed 7 women. Go round the same societies you call uncivilized if you will hear stories like this. The daughter of a Philadelphia police chief goes out to dinner with her friends, a fight ensued, and they beat up two guys who happened to be gays. Suddenly, people say that the assailants did it because the victims were gays. Some go as far as canvassing for the sacking of his father. Others blame Christianity for her actions, and her life has been dug opened and calls to get her fired have ensued. Her hospital where she works as an Emergency Room Technician without delay has suspended her until further notice. There are several things that are wrong with the reaction of the society. Many are bedeviled by the spirit of jungle justice which portrays a lack of civilization, the scapegoat mentality or vicarious victimization, the spirit of schadenfreude and an attack on Christianity.

Can anyone believe that in America at this age, someone can still be beaten by those who disagree with him/her? Isn't that jungle justice? Wasn't jungle justice a tool of the uncivilized societies or the lifestyle of barbarians? While I disagree with the homosexuality lifestyle, I also believe it is their right to live how they want; after all, they are not hurting anyone as they live their lives. If their lifestyle is sin; it is left unto God to judge sin and not man. If they were Christians, the bible gives the procedures to discipline wayward brethren. Therefore, the people and the courts should allow them to marry, and let God deal with it later.

However, the reason there is always resistance is the intolerance of the homosexuals to those who publicly say that they are against homosexuality. They are hated and threatened, and they are attacked and victimized. This intolerance also goes a long way to show the type of education many have received. Violence; ether physical or verbal is the weapon of weak communicators. Consequently, both the LGBT community and their assailants are responsible for the attacks on gays.

It is surprising how many people say that Kathryn Knott and her friends beat the men up because she and her friends are Christians, and the men are gays. We have seen people who are not gays beaten up. We have seen Christians beaten up. What happened was a product of coincidence. It happened that the young men were gays but not that they were really beaten because they were gays. This is the real entitlement and privilege life that is given to the gay community.

After many found out that she is the daughter of the police chief, they want her father to be fired. That again is jungle justice and the schedenfreude of the underprivileged. There is no law in this country that says that parents should be held accountable for the crimes of their children, talk less of mea culpas of their children; otherwise, how many of those writing will be out after what their own children have done in schools? This vicarious victimization must end; it is a backward mentality. You should judge Kathryn for her crime and not for her background. It is not different from judging anyone for being poor or being black.

Furthermore, her job is wrong to have suspended her just for her tweets. Isn't her right to an opinion? They say that it has come to their knowledge; not that they are aware. They have merely heard rumors of what she wrote. Why are so many people being disciplined now by rumors? Her tweets may not be true. Simply because she tweeted that she called dad when someone ran her off the road and the person was ticketed, is true. In addition, her holding that bottle to her mouth does not mean that she actually drank it. Look, the crowd has occult powers, so many people try to belong. The zeitgeist nowadays is to act badly, so even if one was not, they must create an appearance thereof. Some people want her to pay because of her privileged and life of entitlement. It is not her fault that she was born into a family like that. Anyone who is referring to her life of entitlement is a jealous and envious person. Who amongst us would not be happy to be born into a privileged and entitled home? What is bad with having wealthy parents?

The last issue is how people blame Christianity for the beatings. Even if the three assailants were Christians, it does not mean that they did it in the name of Christianity. It would have been, if it is assigned in the Bible to beat and hurt sinners. It is rather another religion that requires its adherents to kill non members because they are unbelievers. Christianity on the other hand urges people to love everyone and pray for their enemies (Mt 5:44).

Notwithstanding, I hope that we as a society will grow more tolerant with our worldviews, and I pray that the two people recover from their assaults. My hope is that the young Kathryn learns from all of this and grows up to be a better person.

Until then, may we grow as a society?
