Miley Cyrus Is The Twerk Queen and The American Role Model.

Miley Cyrus began as Hannah Montana; the girl next door or the perfect ideal kid and role model for the young girls all over the world. She was the ideal future date for the young boys. As she grew, she embraced the pop culture. She digressed from the painted caricature of the perfect, innocent and angelic girl whom absentee parents had forced upon her. She had to do a makeover or at least revamp her image to fit her personality and business acumen. Consequently, during the August, 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, she twerked and simulated playing with herself. She backed that up with her wrecking ball music video. In Nov, 2013, MTV's Europe Music Awards to receive her Best Video of the Year Award for her hit song "We Can't Stop", she lighted a joint onstage.  Every time I visit a school, a child will ask me what I think of Miley Cyrus. I know that she is a great influence not only to kids but also to their parents. Consequently, I have heard alarming cries from parents like this, “Miley Cyrus is no good. She is a bad influence to our kids.” It is surprising how the more we study, the very more intolerant and irresponsible we become.
Any parent who has feared or who fears that Miley Cyrus will be a bad role model to her kids is a failed parent because they should have been their child’s role model and not left it to the stars. Many say that bad communications of the media corrupt good manners than they can contain. That argument is very weak because if a child is trained in the right way he or she should grow, when he or she grows, she will not depart from it. Training is not only by theory and orders but by practice as examples are better than precepts.  If you are so into the Kardashians and Desperate House Wives, it is likely that your daughters will follow that path, no matter what you tell them in words.  Parents had to repeatedly teach their children on the values that make life joyful. Parents must learn to make the dichotomy between an artist and her works. History shows that some funny books were written by very boring people. If her music is good, people should listen and dance to it, but if it is not, they shouldn't. It should have nothing to do with her character, rather the entertainment she brings. When she smoked weed on stage in Holland, the people went crazy because they smoke weed in the street and have sex in public places. She immediately became one of them; thereby, producing the entertainment they sought.
Miley Cyrus is not the problem; the absentee parents are. Miley is an entertainer and not a moralist. Entertainers are not role models, and they should not be. The Levites who were charged with the music and worship of God were not given any leadership or guardian role. That was because Music soothes their spirit and could easily lead them too astray. Good music could appease the demons in an individual (I Sam 16:26), and bad music could wake them up a thousand fold. It was during the celebratory entertainment of David that the music aroused jealousy in Saul (I Sam 18:6-7).
There were three groups of people who had to receive the Spirit of God in the Old Testament. A 4th (gifted people called for special; divine services like Bezalel Ex 31: 3; 35:31) had to receive it in special occasions. The first was the king for right judgment. The second was the priest for the right sacrifice, and the third was the prophet for the right utterance. These three served as the guide to the society. The king led the people and thus represented God. The priest directed the people on how to serve God, and the prophet taught them the ways of the Lord. The prophet checked and balanced the actions of both the king and priest.
The king today is for the leaders, the priest today could be the religious leaders.  In a more opened context, it extends to all those who worship God and the prophets today could be likened to teachers. If a leader was twerking, we could raise an alarm. If the pastor or priest twerks or smokes a joint in public, we can whine, and if a teacher twerks and smokes then she has failed the kids because these are the role models who guide the soul, the spirit and the mind of people. Permit that we stretch out the leadership pyramid.
God ruled the king, the king ruled the parents, the parents ruled the kids and the kids ruled the animals. The kids were the ones who kept the pets because somone had to rule  some or something unlike today that pet keeping is a show of greatness. The parents are thus the head of the kids as God is their leader. Surprising today some kids are the heads of their parents! Ichabod! Therefore, the parents by default of God as a physical and concrete person seen in flesh and blood became the leaders and automatic role models of the kids. Miley does not fall in any of these categories. If she is to serve as a role model, it is to her own kids and not yours!
Biblical historiography reveals that the entertainers always led the people to sin. The Bible is not against entertainment, but it cautions against it excesses as it is a highway without parapets that can easily slide into the abyss of self-indulgence. God is not against pleasure or entertainment. Actually, He wants us to be very joyful! Amusement and pleasure that ensue from entertainment are not bad, albeit they easily lead to the works of the flesh.
It is clear that each time the people sat down to eat and drink, the next act was for them to play Ex 32:6; I Cor 10: 7. The verb form of the word to play in Hebrew (tsachaq) there is synonymous to the 18th century usage of the word entertainment which is “to amuse” someone. If you go to Judges 16:25, the expression “make us sport” in Hebrew (sachaq) is the synonym of the word play, amuse and entertain. It then explains why Solomon encourages people to go to the funeral home than the party house (Eccl 7:2-3). If you curtail your amusement, many call you weird and speak evil of you (I pet 4:4). That is why Moses and the apostles preferred to suffer affliction with the people of God than enjoy the pleasures of sin (Heb 11:25).
Therefore, the responsibility falls squarely on the parents. The Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Prov. 22:6)." Any parent whose child has Miley Cyrus as a role model should not blame the singer; he or she should blame himself or herself as a failed parent because your kids should have had you, your prelates or at least their teachers as their role models if you had laid emphases on the things that matter most in life during their upbringing. That is inculcated at home and not in the MTV awards. Children should be made to think on those things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, virtue, praiseworthy and things that are of good report. If you are too equally yoked with the entertainment industry, it is normal for the Miley Cyrus to be your children’s role models. Therefore, go to sleep and enjoy your handiwork. You cannot drink and expect Miley to get drunk. You planted the seed, Miley watered it, and the society will harvest it. Thanks for the good seed!

Until then, you should not make Miley Cyrus the scapegoat for your failed parenting.
