God Has Also Called Women To Preach The Gospel

Apostle Lee Ann B. Marino of The Apostlic Felloship International Ministries

It is even sadder when female preachers say that God has asked the woman now to preach because men are not doing their job; thereby, unconsciously making the woman inferior. It is almost like saying “ok our reserve (woman) suit up to play because the starter (man) is not doing a good job. Or perhaps my tire (man) has bumps and leaks, so let me use woman (my doughnut or spare tire)”. Maybe this is our scapegoat below.

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee (Gen 3:16).

It means that the woman will desire a man and a man will desire a woman, and the beast will desire both to devour. It does not mean the woman is inferior to the man. Some preachers claim that listing the woman amongst the properties of man (numbers 32:26 & I Kings 20:5.) means she is one of his properties; thus, she is inferior.

Look carefully at Gen 3:19. Through Adam death entered into the world. Notice the physical and spiritual ramifications. Notice that the Federal Head Theory is manifested more in physical settings and worship than in spiritual ones. Man is counted as a household and his family as an auxiliary. They belong to him and him to God. Consequently, when Adam sinned as the head of the household, sin entered into the whole world (Rom 5:12).

Now look at Gen 3:21 and see the equality in spiritual bearing. He clothed both from “coats of skins”. This physical act is the redemption of the spiritual nature that they lost in sin. As a result, both men and women receive the same salvation because the blood that redeems the man is not superior to that of the woman. When both men and women believe in God, Christ seals them with the same Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13; 4:30). However, the man will be the head of the household as in the Federal Head.

When Adam is driven out of the garden, he walked out with his wife. His wife has to follow him, because they will till (labor) the ground together. Now quickly go to Ephesians 5:21. That is the topic sentence “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God”. The woman reverences the man as the head of the household, and the man loves her like Christ loved the Church and gave his life for it. Consequently, they enter into a partnership and collaboration while maintaining their home managerial roles-the man as ruler of his own house (I Tim 3:4). However, the church is not his house; it is the bride of Christ.

Hence, with the advent of the Lord Jesus, gender divisions were no more touchstones. Apostle Paul endorses this position with his reminder to the Galatians and Ephesians respectively (Gal 3:28; Col 3:10-11) because the curse has been reversed with the death, resurrection and ascension of Christ.

If gender was important, then God would have done as he did with the salvific list of Noah’s Ark. What God wants is laborers. It is more a cultural issue, than a theological one because if it wasn’t then God would at least warned Solomon not to deal with the Queen of Sheba who was ruling her own country thus ruling over men (I kings 10:13).

Christ was not radical in trying to transform the culture as he was with spiritual matters. With the cleansing of the temple, he made a whip to drive them out, but with establishing an egalitarian society, he proceeded with caution though it almost cost him his life (Lk 4:17-30). That is hwy he will commission Mary Magdalene and not Peter to carry the missive of his resurrection (John 20:17).

When Christ died and resurrected, he reversed the curse. It is exemplified in his daily dealings with the people. A weaker vessel does not mean an inferior being. Both ate the fruit, and both were punished. Therefore, if the curse has been reversed then the woman cannot be treated as an inferior being or laborer of the world and the kingdom of God.

Until then, women preach the word in season and out of season.
