Sex Took Oscar To The Grave, And Edmund To Jail.

We thank God that the family decided to accept the plea deal to bring a closure to the case. I know that both families would have loved this incident to stay behind closed doors, but because it has been brought public, please permit me to make a few comments. Suffer that I draw a few lessons after all; it was in public newspapers written by non Manyu people. Edmund cannot make any restitution, but I know he does regret it. This is a classic example of the proverb that the journey for the vagina is never long. Scuttlebutts have it that, Oscar traveled 3 hours; at least twice a week to Columbus to cuckold Edmund. Therefore, both men determined their destinies.

However, the bible says that when someone dies, the living should take that to heart (Eccl 7:2). Let me refresh your memories on the circumstances surrounding his imprisonment. Edmund Eno has been given 25 years maximum and to serve 12 years for the shooting death of Oscar Agbor. When Edmund found out that Oscar was committing adultery with his wife, he decided to kill him.

This death divided the Manyu community in Atlanta for some time, and now that the verdict is finally out yesterday, I have decided to revisit the case after one of our sisters posted the judgment. Don’t our people say if a child does not find out what killed his father, that same thing will kill him too? We must learn lessons so that these same things do not repeat themselves in our community. The truth about it is that, if a goat refuses the leash of the owner, it will be tied in the market square by the council. That means, if you refuse to put your life in order, the society will put it in order for you in their own way and in public.

There are four lessons we learn from this incident. The first is that sleeping with someone’s wife or husband may cause you death. The second is that you will ruin your life if you kill anyone whether they sleep with your wife or husband. The third is that, the community lost two prospective and promising young people. The fourth is that, death is the end of all men and the living should take it to heart.

This is how we can solve the problems and prevent them from happening. You know prevention is better than cure. We should not condone adultery, for it is a very selfish and wicked behavior that is ingraining as a habit into most cultures.
When one speaks against adultery, people always say that is their private lives. No, it is not! The cock that crows belongs to the household, but its crows belong to the community. Some of your bad behaviors affect the community, and so must be addressed. If you are not ready to be faithful in a relationship then don’t get married. Yes, don’t get married. Marriage is a covenant, and it is for faithful people. Hear me well; faithful people!

Our communities should expose and rebuke openly adulterers, and meetings should take appropriate actions to discipline them by fining them a fee like a goat or a cow.

When I was growing up, people paid a fine for adultery. Why are we abandoning the culture in which we grew up? What has changed today that adultery seems very normal; and private? What is private about it, or is it the Husband and wife snatchers who parade the streets and brag about their prowess? To steal someone else's property is no more your private business; it is public business. Are your two ears opened? Hahahahhaa. I mean; that is public business.

Secondly, people should groom patience. It is not because someone is sleeping with your wife or husband that you should kill them. Both human and divine laws give you the privilege to sever the relationship. The Bible permits you to divorce if you do not want to forgive your spouse. For God’s sake, don’t kill anyone for sleeping with your wife or husband; go to court and divorce them. There will always be someone for you.

Until then, let the community learn from this.

Does the Biya Regime Need the Cameroonian Diaspora?

I have written before on how the government could reverse brain drain , but today I want to share with the government how they could help the Diaspora. The Cameroonian and African Diaspora especially the erudite intelligentsia are very bitter with their home governments because they caused their Soukougou (wandering disease). Most have fallen bush, and those who have not yet done so, aspire to do so anytime heaven could open a window. The government has failed to provide work for them especially because it has built more of a socialist and communist system than a capitalist one. Those that have been employed have arrears that they only get by satisfying the Slot Machines of extortioners. Graduates are like tadpoles; not out of malnutrition, but because they burn more calories looking for work they cannot find. The government’s best efforts look like an ant trying to build a King Solomon mansion. Now it is even selling its soul to the Chinese. Perhaps Cameroonians will be the first to be shipped to China as slaves. The private sector is a cadaver. The debt of the Cameroonian government resembles a carcass on a snail’s back climbing a tree. Cameroon truly needs help. Nonetheless, this is how the government could redeem itself.

If the government will tax imports for Diaspora only on 20% it will transform the economy. First there will be many shipments that will transform standards of living. Secondly, it will provide jobs for the jobless graduates and Cameroonians because most will be employed and will be self-employed. The government will make sure that what ever shipment is made will hire a Cameroonians. These Cameroonians will be taxed to pay income tax. That will also encourage the building of infrastructures for people could buy materials to build their houses. The course of building houses will provide jobs. They will beautify the place too.

Another way the government could help the Diaspora is being inclusive and transparent. The ambassador and Prime minister should travel and meet Cameroonians abroad and not remain in DC feasting and drinking Champagnes with one party. The embassy is yet to win over Thomases with the embassy phone constantly ringing in the air. Pickup up you phone and call the Brunei embassy during working hours; you will get an answer. These behaviors have impressed negatively on Cameroonians, and they have not failed to sell their frustration to foreign investors. People read what Cameroonians write and no one in his or her senses will go to invest in a country where the autochthones paint as the graveyard of investments. The government must be hospitable.

The final thing that the Cameroon government can actually help the Diaspora is by providing dual citizenship. Cameroonians should not be left behind. At least 110 countries in the world have authorized dual citizenship. Do we want to be the last as always? Dual citizenship will keep their offspring attached to their patrie, and that could transform into investment as they gain economic independence. But denying them dual citizenship leaves them little desire to be interested in Cameroon. Dual citizenship provides a lot of suppleness as you meander between two countries and in times of hardship one could find solace in another. Dual citizenship no doubts will boost the economy. Cameroonians who are Americans could easily organize trade fairs between the two countries without thinking of the hassle of acquiring a visa. Becoming an American businessman as a Cameroonian saves you from the estate taxes on foreign traders. There is no doubt that there is a huge benefit of becoming an American citizen in terms of traveling. Does the Cameroonian government not want to see her citizens happy? Why then stifle the source of their joy if dual citizenship is the fountain?

For Cameroon to avert becoming a boiling cauldron the government must bring economic stability and dual citizenship is one source. Dual citizenship will bring real democracy because those who have tasted the true drops of democracy abroad will spill some on the national assembly floor whether people like it or not. A truly democratic country like Ghana will attract more investors than discourage it. The Biya regime needs the Diaspora to make a difference.

Until then, President Biya should heed to this SOS.

Who Killed Bibi Ngota?

Everyday I hear about freedom of speech, and everyday I hear about a journalist in some remote country who is locked up or even killed for giving his or her opinion. That is how Bibi Ngota (Editorial director of Cameroon Express) found himself in Kodengui Central Prison where he died in detention. He should not have been there in the first place merely for speaking the truth. The US embassy diplomatically chided the Cameroon government for human rights abuse in these words, “The Embassy reiterates its concern for the respect of human rights in Cameroon, including freedom of the press and freedom of expression.” The government through the minister of communication: Issa Tchirouma Bakari said he died of HIV/AIDS. He was not sick of HIV before he went to jail. How did he die of AIDS in jail within a few months? What they knew he was sick off was hypertension (High Blood Pressure). Why did the government seize the coroner’s report? These questions paint the caricature of a limbless man called freedom of speech.

Family or friends sideline you when you give your opinion especially if it does not match their whims and caprices. Many have lost bosom friends, and others have lost their freedom and lives. Surely you can remember Lapiro De Mbanga who has been falsely convicted and imprisoned for inciting revolt. So how much of your opinion does the world want to hear? An errant personal opinion could fetch you a slander or libel suit. If your opinion disrupts the peace of the community, then you could lose your freedom or wallet.

But we have seen in many situations where the person is speaking the truth, yet people have tried to shut them up. Bibi Ngota is the scapegoat whose only crime as a journalist was informing the Cameroonians that Paul Biya is like Bally Bally (a three arm bandit). Lose not hope; no one can shut the mouth of the truth speaker. It is a war they will never win, so they should not start it. Please enjoy these anecdotes.

The first anecdote comes from I Kings 22:8-41. King Ahab of Israel asked Jehoshaphat the king of Judah if he had listened to all the different opinions about going to war. Jehoshaphat told him that there was one man called Micaiah they had not listened to. Take note; people know those who speak the truth in every community even though they don’t like them. The king didn’t like Micaiah’s opinions because according to him, he was against him. Can you relate to that? There are people in our communities we do not like to hear from because we think that their opinions will always be against us.The government killed Bibi Ngota because they were afraid of his opinions.

Nonetheless, they sent for him still because it was expedient to hear different opinions. When the different prophets came, the kings were sitting on their thrones to listen to them prophesy. The praise singers flattered them, but Micahiah gave them his mind, and what the Lord had spoken to him. They advised Micaiah to go with the flow because everyone had prophesied according to the sweet music of the kings’ ears. Micaiah told them that they would lose the war. An older prophet slapped him on his cheek as a reprimand.

Nevertheless, there are occasions when we must keep our opinions to ourselves even if they are right. When Paul was being questioned before Ananias, he began to run his mouth and the high priest ordered his guards to smite him on the mouth. So Paul turned and told him “God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law” (Acts 23: 2-5). Paul was informed that he was speaking to the high priest and he apologized.

In the New Testament, John the Baptist lost his life for criticizing Herod Antipas’s marriage. Herod Antipas divorced his wife to marry Herodias his own niece and the wife of his half brother Philip. Herod respected and protected John because he was a good and holy man, but he was worried each time John spoke though he still liked to listen to him (Mk 6:20). Herod Antipas was banished into exile in Lyons by Caligula. The abuse of power for which he killed John the Baptist finally deprived him of the kingdom that he so craved much.

As you know, when Jesus was killed for speaking the truth, God avenged his death. Though his death was not a loss; actually it was a blessing to himself and to mankind because he went to be with his father, but he also gave salvation to mankind. However, those who killed him suffered considerably. When the council arrested the disciples, they asked them to keep their mouths shut. You will have to decide whether to obey men more than God. I know that Bibi Ngota will be avenged. Those who killed him will lose plenty of sleep.

Are your superiors slapping you on the cheek because you utter your opinions? Fear not, the Lord will fight for you. Let us go back to the story of Micaiah. The king ordered him to be locked up. He lost his freedom for giving his true opinion. Many have lost even their jobs, lives and other things that were precious to them. But listen; take this from me, be still for the Lord will fight for you. The same opinion that was rejected was what killed the king and haunted those who sabotaged Micaiah like Zedekiah. The king died in the war, and Micaiah had the last laugh. Truth speakers always have the last laugh!

Those who have killed Bibi Ngota will not live eternally. Even if they have a dead and seared conscience, their evil will live with and after them. Tremble and I say tremble because the voice of the innocent’s blood always cries unto God from the ground. If God be for you, who can be against you? Those that shed innocent blood shed their internal peace. While the innocent go to rest, they stay to wail as their evil ravages their internal joy because though plastic surgery may repair a damaged face, a plastic smile will be insufficient for a miserable life. Bibi Ngota should go and go calmly, knowing that his death will be avenged and his cause for freedom will never die, no matter the amount of blood it may cost; it will always be purchased by the common man.

Until then, shy not from giving your opinions.

Mayweather: The Face Of Clean Boxing.

Yesterday as he fought Mosley, the crowd initially cheered for Mosley. Since they could not beat him, towards the end, they joined him. I was not a fan of Money Mayweather, but when I heard him request for an Olympic style testing, I became one. Surprisingly, the American press seems to be siding with those who reject the tests. It is needless to belabor the point that there are things you can find during a blood test that a urine test will not do. Why does Manny Pacquiao refuse to take a blood test, but he accepts to take the urine test? He has waged a serious war to defend his name up to suing the Mayweathers, Golden Boy Promotions and others for libel and slander. Why go that entire route to cleanse your name rather than take the blood test?

Pacquiao says that it weakens him, and he is allergic to needles. That does not make any sense at all. If that was the case, then the Olympic athletes will all be weaklings. He has been accused and taunted for being under drugs in some of his victories that it baffles me how he can still hold out to protect his name. To make a better case, he must take the test.

By taking a urine and blood test, it guarantees that whoever Mayweather is fighting will be in the same level field as he is, so no one cheats with performance enhancing drugs. We have seen athletes who have used performance enhancing drugs and were later caught. Although Mayweather is cocky, every boxing purist will tell you that he is one of the best who ever grazed the spot and should be commended.

8 years ago, a student told me that she told her mother that their new teacher was always smiling and laughing. The mother told her that “your teacher could be high”. When she told me, I asked the class if they will accept for all of us to sign a contract waving our rights and accept to be tested for drugs at all times. Most students told me that they will not take it, and even the one I thought was innocent told me that she will fail the weed test. I shared my idea with some teachers, and I told them that we could sign off our rights so we could be tested 24/7. One teacher told me that it was risky because they could come when you are not ready. I told him that "I am always ready and would want to take any test anytime." He said “why would you want to risk your job though? If you fail a test, you gonna lose your job.” He reiterated. On that day, I knew how deep the problem of recreational drugs has eaten into our society.
Video: Highlights: Mayweather - Mosley

So if Mayweather is requesting such a condition, he should be commended rather than be chided. If Pacquiao knows he is clean, he should take the test. If he knows that he has been fighting with his God given talents, then he does not need to resist taking the tests with flimsy excuses. By taking these tests, it teaches our young people that we can live without illegal drugs, and we can do sports counting on our natural talents. It puzzles me to hear that Mayweather is asking too much. As a teacher, I tell my kids, I can take any drug test anytime, anywhere. Actions speak louder than words. Pacquiao should take the test, or he will remain a cheat even if he wins in court.

Until then, congratulations to Money Mayweather for his 41st win.
