Seelip Seelip Ntui

His name originally is Ntui Cyprian Nforndip, but when he went to school on the first day, his name will be altered forever. When every student came to school on the first day, they introduced themselves to their classmates and teachers. My name is Besong John Ajyekejui said the first student. “My name is Agbor Susan Agbor” the second followed. How “can someone have the same first and last name”? Americans would ask me. Well, don’t ask me; ask our parents. Ayuk Nguimpong Ayukjuetnsongsong said the third. Pupil # 3’s middle name was even a sentence because it carried with it great meaning. The fourth child’s father had studied abroad and was used to calling him by his first name rather than his middle name. So he stammered “my name is Seelip Seelip Ntui. It was his attempt to pronounce the name Cyprian. As from that day until the day Cyprian will leave that school, all his friends called him Seelip Seelip no matter how many times the teacher corrected them. Cyprian himself did not help his cause for Nature seemed to have worked against him because he could not pronounce it better since he was a stammerer.

Cyprian did not have many friends, and he did not try to get them either. Immediately the bell rang for break, he went and sat at a corner by himself. But in every dark hole there is a ray of sunlight. Another pupil called Agbor Margaret Egbe-Achang sympathized and sat with him. She began walking home from school because if she left him alone, other kids will bully and tease him. Together, they began walking to and from school.

Back in school, his grades were not good because he did not have the self confidence. His grandfather decided that he would be made to play with the girls to boost his self-confidence. On the first day everyone heard of the news. Seelip Seelip was playing football with women. It was an ill omen for a man to compete with women. When a man fought with a woman, the villagers sang a song to mock him for fighting with a woman. What has always been a curse will be Seelip’s blessing.

As he began playing, he scored goals. With time, he grew better than the women, and they took him off their team and put him in the boys Team B. His self confidence has grown, and he was performing magic. He became a scoring machine. You know that some men only perform better when they are paired with women. Back in class, his grades were improving; he was now topping the class. As usual, success always has brothers and sisters. With his prolific scoring ability, he was included in Team A of the school where he finally became the captain.

There are many lessons we learn from Seelip Seelip. The bird must always start from one strand of grass to build its nest. Give a child that lacks self-confidence weak things that will build up his or her confidence. Weak men should register in women’s clubs to boost their self confidence. When they start to beat the women, they will think that they are now good and can join a real team. You smile; don’t you? We must promote the role of the grandparents in the family. They have valuable lessons to teach the kids. Finally, do not mock the man who has nothing today, for tomorrow may be his day. Even the Bible says “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all” (Eccl 9:11). One day their star will shine. Say one day my star will shine.

Until then, what do you call yourself no matter what others call you?

The Wind and The Iroko.

When I say “Arabian nights” you will answer “Entertainment”. Arabian Nights? Good! Old men and women, I have a story to tell you. My story is about the wind and the iroko tree.

Once upon a time, there was a man who thought he was the king. He gathered his entire village, and they went to witness the wind demonstrate its strength in the forest. He walked, and walked, thinking the entire village was behind him. When he reached the forest, he realized that no one was behind him, and that he had just taken a walk to the forest. There he remembered that, if a man thinks he is leading, but he has no one following him behind is merely taking a walk. Nonetheless, the king rather than go back, decided to enjoy the show.

Long time ago, the wind thought it was the strongest. It was involved in a battle with the grass. So when it passed, it pushed all the grass down, and the grass slept sideways. The wind drummed its chest all over and invited all the animals and kings to come and witness its strength. “At last I am the king of the land, and I will show you all”. The wind said.

So the animals and kings gathered to watch the wind demonstrate its strength. It passed and blew again this time stronger than before. The grass slept sideways, and the little trees fell off their roots. “It is now the new beginning” the wind whispered. The forest will be different because there was a new king for the entire land it publicized. To the wind and its friends, it was the long sought victory they had longed for.

Suddenly the sardonic laughter of the Tortoise heralded. As everyone looked, it said: “listen, why do you push the grass and you are happy thinking you have won the battle. You have not; actually you make more noise than anything. The Iroko has not budged since you have been blowing. It has always been in the same place. Immediately, the wind realized that just because it screams aloud victory, it does not mean it has won.

No matter how many times or how much a boxer claims it has won a match, if his or her hand has not been lifted up by the referee, then it has not won; it is only making noise. Let the wind blow harder or shout louder that it is setting order in the forest; every other animal in the bush knows it is only making noise because the wind has failed to remove the Iroko.

Until then, it is noise making for the wind to claim victory in the forest.

“With This, I'm Going To Control Your Life”.

Men pretend to be in charge, but women seem to control at the background. So who is really in control? Men say they are the head of the household. Perhaps if the man is the head, the woman seems the neck. If you cut off the neck, the head will not survive. If you leave both there, the head can only look to the direction the neck turns and as long and far as it wants to turn. Who is really in control: the neck or the head? Sometimes her thing can make you check into a heartbreak hotel in a minute. A woman can never resist that which is good for food (lust of the flesh), that which is pleasant to the eyes (lust of the eyes), and that which makes one wise (pride of life). No wonder many say “woman thy name is vanity”. But what marvels many is the knack with which she accomplishes these ambitions through men. I will just name a few women and then show you how they influenced their men. If you know others, please feel free to add. I will start with Bible examples, move to historical examples and conclude with some contemporary examples. I hope you enjoy it. “With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

If Eve had not given the fruit to Adam, humanity would not have experienced perdition. When asked to render account, Adam said “The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat”. Adam like man has no will power to resist the temptation from a woman. “With This, I Will Control Your Life”.

Lady Potiphar lusted after Joseph and wanted him to have sex with her. Joseph knew that between those legs lie therein poison or antidote that few men survive the onslaught. Lady Potiphar did not like that rejection, so she cried attempted rape. Joseph was sent into the dungeon until God intervened. How many men are gnashing their teeth in jail now because a woman cried rape?“With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

Samson alone had killed thousands of philistines in their ongoing war. They wanted to know his secret, but he refused leaking it to anyone. However, when he licked ambrosia between the legs of Delilah, it popped out his mouth without resistance. Do you understand why women are used as spies? Secrets that men cannot get, they get them with ease.“With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

Ahab was not a wicked man, but when he married Jezebel- the epitome of wickedness, he breathed wickedness. Do you remember any man who was good but when he got married, he became vile? “With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

King Ahaseurus wanted a maiden for a wife, and he got Esther. Esther used her legs to control the life of not only Ahaseurus but also the destiny of Haman. Her petition is granted without challenge, and if her request is half of the kingdom, it is performed. “With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

Macbeth though a man of war, was not ready to shed the blood of Kign Duncan, but Lady Macbeth to satisfy her vaulting ambition that was overleaping it bounds, coerced him in these words
Your face, my thane, is as a book where men may read strange matters. To beguile the time, look like the time; bear welcome in your eye, your hand, your tongue: look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't.
Few men will resist such a speech from a woman. By morning, Duncan was dead.  By whose influence was he assassinated? “With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

What about Empress Wu Zetian  of China or Catherine II of Russia? Wu Zetian was the only empress to ever rule China. She used her legs to gain control of the throne. Catherine was even a German who became a Russian Queen. She became queen neither by elections nor war, but by enticing Peter III who married her to peep wholesale through the pinhole that even gods cannot resist. “With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

Take a look at this video and see what Lucy Kibaki does in Kenya. Those words of Kibaki are not from a free man; they are from Kibaki whose balls Lucy squeezed hard to come out and state how many wives he has. She went again and staged a sit in. “With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

Just of recent, we have read the fall of Tiger Woods with 14 prostitutes, Jesse James with Michelle "Bombshell" McGee, Josh Duhamel's with Nicole Forrester. "Former supermodel Christie Brinkley split from husband Peter Cook in 2006 after he admitted to having an affair with teenager Diana Bianchi. Billy Bob Thornton married Angelina Jolie while his then live-in girlfriend: willowy Laura Dern, was away on vacation". "I left our home to go and make a movie, and while I was away, my boyfriend got married, and I never heard from him again," Dern later said. “With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

All they need is take a strike like Kenyan women who went on a sex strike, and the country was almost grounded to a standstill. Do you want to know the power of a woman? It will fight the highest battles without lifting a gun. More than a hundred men could not bring down Tiger Woods on a golf course, but 14 women each in her turn, rubbed his back on the ground as they sucked nectar from his straw. Satan had prepared Elin’s ambrosia on their table, and the cum ran over.“With This, I'Am Going To Control Your Life”.

Notwithstanding, did you know that peacemaker is just as worth as you make it to be? The key is living a spiritual life. If we live by the spirit, we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Real men live a spiritual life, so their lives are not controlled by that thing.

Until then, let her not control your life with that.

Do You Sleep Like A Baby or Like A Senior?

How many times have you heard people say they sleep like a baby? Paradoxically, it is true. Many people sleep like a baby. They get up every now and then and cry in the night. A baby gets up many times in the night, each time they want something and cry before day break. That is a sharp contrast to dotards. You will bear testimony to this if you have lived with one of them. They sleep like people in a comatose. Apart from their snore, you may think they are dead, but they are alive. Let me ask you again: do you sleep like a baby or like a senior? You smile don’t you? Ok, now let me tell you the spiritual implications.

Most children seem to be sleeping at stage one (the stage where a little noise wakes them up). Most adults sleep at stage five-a stage where dreams are possible because your mind relaxes, and in your subconscious, you can revisit unfulfilled activities (Job 33:15). Isn’t that why the Bible says Old men will dream dreams, and young men will see visions (Joel 2:28)? They will dream dreams because they are old; they can no more do anything. Now they only dream of what was and  what will be. On the contrary, the young men see visions because they are strong, and the sky is their limit.

Many people lose sleep because they are worried (Esther 6:1 Prov 3:24), and others sleep well because they are at peace (Psa 4:8). Others sleep because they are lazy (Prov 6:9-10), and as you know, most dotards are very lazy because dotage has taken away their strength. Others sleep because they are tired.

Remember again that wealth is not a guarantee for sleep (Eccl 5:12) else the rich will not be abusing sleeping pills. Some boast that God will prepare a table before them in the presence of their enemies, but they don’t even have food on it. Others have houses, but they cannot sleep because they don’t have enough money to pay the bills. Some have the houses and the money, but they cannot sleep because they are all sick: cancer here, diabetes there, and arthritis over there. Let me tell you: there is hope in the horizon, for you will prosper in the midst of your oppression (Ex 1:12)!

If pride comes before a fall, peace comes before sleep. To experience true sleep and peace, you must give your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If you have given your life to Jesus, but you still cannot sleep, you must check and see if you have cast your cares unto him. if you have taken your burdens to Jesus. He will give you rest. And as your soul rests in sleep, God will work on you. It was during sleep that God took out a rib to make Eve. It was during sleep that Delilah took away Samson’s strength (Judges 16:19). During sleep, God repairs your brain. In the Cortex area of the brain sleep helps the dendrites to grow.

Have you always thought why John always leaned on the chest of Jesus to feel his heartbeat? It is in deep sleep that we can actually hear God speak to us. Look at Daniel (8:18), or Jeremiah (31:26); they heard God when their souls were at rest. When we are troubled, we cannot sleep (Dan 2:1; 6:18), and when our bodies are not at rest, our spirits may not be too.

Jesus said that we should be like little children. Just as the babies get up and cry every two hours for food, you should know that in perilous times like this, we must watch and pray, for we know not when the master will return. More so, seeing that the kingdom of God is suffering violence, the Christians must stay awake during the day in prayers so that God will speak to them in their sleep (calm moments) on how to take it back.

Until then, both stages of sleep are necessary.

Are You Selling Your Birthright?

There is a story in the Bible about Esau: the eldest son who sold his birthright to his younger brother: Jacob. Birthright was the right given to the first born child whose mother was legally married, and was not a slave or concubine. It was for someone who normally would be the heir when his father passed away. The advantage was that he received a double portion of the property (Deut 21:7) and served as the family head (Gen 27:36). Women did not receive birthrights because families were patrilineal or considered paternally. Though the first born acquired the birthright status naturally by birth, it was also like a privilege that could be seized. That is why Reuben’s own was taken away from him. Why didn’t God give it to those after Reuben (Gen 25: 31-34)? Birthright could be taken away from you if you defiled it (I Chr 5:1). He defiled it by committing incest (Gen 49: 1-4). Their father bypassed them for lack of character and charisma (Gen 49:5-10). Instead, he gave it to Joseph his favorite son (gen 49:22-26). Birthrights could be exchanged between the heirs and those who coveted it. That is why it was possible for Esau to give it to Jacob for some bread and portage of lentils. Once exchanged, it could not be taken back. But here is the crux.

And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept (Gen 27:38).
By selling that birthright, Esau showed he loved the world more than God; thereby making enmity with God, for the friend of the world is the enemy of God. That is why God hated Esau. Why could Isaac not take it back, or why couldn’t he give another one to Esau if he could not take it back? He could have given him another one if it was just a physical thing. It was also a spiritual thing. Blessings were spiritual words and words uttered are irretrievable. Balaam said “How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed, or how shall I defy whom the LORD hath not defied” (Num 23:8)? Isaac represented God and once he had blessed him to inherit the birthright, he could not recover it because there could only be one family head at a time.

The promise for him to be the heir was not through the law, but through the righteousness of faith since the just live by faith. Remember that "without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Esau did not have the faith that God will carry him through the hunger. Do you have faith that God will carry you through your situation?

It is the writer to the Hebrews (12:16-17) who gives us a clearer picture of its significance. This passage exposes to us that even repentance and forgivingness will not erase the consequences of certain sins or mistake that we do. Verse 16 explains that just for the moment or the desire to satisfy the immediate desires of the flesh, people like Esau overlook long term consequences. Take a look at unprotected sex or illicit sex as a whole. Just for the pleasure of the moment, many forgo their long term commitments and alliance and break the covenant of the marriage vows. That of Esau was the result of a bad decision, and there are consequences of certain bad decisions we must live with for life. He reacted to his immediate need not looking at the long term consequences.

Spiritually, Jesus is the firstborn, and he takes the inheritance. Then we as his brothers and sisters become the coheirs (Rom 8: 29; Col 1:17-19 Heb 1:2-6). I pray that the eyes of your understanding would be enlightened so that you may know the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance for the saints.

Until then, guard jealously your birthright.

Are You Allergic To Truth?

Many people hate those who speak the truth. Is that true? Today you will learn if you are allergic to truth. That is; do people who speak the truth easily become your enemies? As you peruse through the Bible and history, you realize that those who spoke the truth always had the last laugh no matter how many haters they had. Today many people say that the truth should be delivered in an euphemistic package. First and foremost, know that truth is not relative. If truth is relative, then there is no absolute. How do you even know what you believe in or what you stand for if there is no absolute? If truth is relative, then no one is ever wrong for what may be wrong to you may be right to them, and what may be truth to them may be false to you.

For example, some people always say I don’t have time. Is that true that they don’t have time? They don’t have anytime since they spend all their time playing video and internet games, chatting, and acting as radio trottoirs (gossip industries). They have time, but they misuse it. When they are told this, they get so offended. They are allergic to truth.

Many have acquired material things, but they now need spiritual inheritance. That is why many do not speak the truth. It is now almost as if truth is a crime. Truth does not need defense lawyers, for it can defend itself. It does not need witnesses, for it is its own witness. It does not need brothers and sisters, and it does not need a fork stick too to support it because it can stand on its own.

When you speak the truth, some people consider that an insult. They say it should be diluted. Truth that has been diluted is no truth; it is flattery.  I don't flatter anyone, and I do not want anyone to flatter me too. Call a spade a spade, so those who seal their ears will hear their consciences mutter it to their perdition.

When you beg the favor or fear the hate of mere mortals, then you start to say that truth is relative, and it does not need to be spoken at all times. If what is said is not the truth, then sue for slander or libel. That way you vindicate yourself or redeem your whitewash image. Sadly enough for many, the First Amendment is alive. The truth is so important and final that whenever you go to court, you must swear that whatever you are going to say is the truth and nothing but the truth even though the lawyers will still look at you straight into your eyes and tell a lie.

People who speak the truth should be honored rather than make them our enemies or try to draw them to our sides. You can imprison a man, but you can never imprison the truth. You can fire a man, but you can never fire the truth. You can even go to the extreme of killing a man, but you can never kill the truth. When the truth undertakes a journey, it can never be sidetracked by the shenanigans of mere mortals. It can be delayed but slowly and steadily, it will reach its destination. Truth is not too big, but it can move mountains. It is never in hurry, but it is never late. Truth speaks softly but sounds like an explosive. Have you ever seen truth? It does not carry with it any baggage in its conscience. Truth is light, but it is cumbersome to liars. Those who attempt to make themselves demigods and what the say the dictates of the land, cannot affront truth. They want to make you a dead man when something is not going right and you point out the wrongness. Truth always shows them that they are nihil; I mean nothing.

Until then, strive to always speak the truth for you will never lose.

Akwaya: The Manyu Albatross or Accentor?

Akwaya Sub-Dividing is one of the four sub-divisions of Manyu Division in the South West Province of Cameroon. It has 99 villages. The major problems of the Akwaya people are electricity, water and roads. There are three main entrances into Akwaya. The first and most viable is the one through Ikom via Nigeria. The second is by the Mamfe River where after anchoring at Banje, one would have to peregrinate the rest of the journey. The third is via Eshiobi on Bensikins (motorcycles) or bicycles. God has blessed us with natural resources, but we have allowed the government to rape us of them all. They have deforested Upper Bayang Subdivision, they have ravaged all the forests in Eyumokjouck, and now they are pillaging Akwaya. Central Mamfe is already naked as a dog, yet we cannot regroup to fight the common enemy. We are here fighting amongst ourselves rather than organizing a deipnosophy. An occasion serving as a clarion call for unity is quickly converted into a call to bear arms. A clear example is during Dr Nkwanyouh's Award Ceremony where each side has tried to position itself as the Big Kahuna.

Certainly in this community, we have come to see some pretty rancorous and spiteful individuals. We are divided into two or more groups though. All is not well, and you know once a stick has been broken even if glued, it is never the same. There is substantial damage being done in the fabric of our community the more this community wrangles. Sometimes I feel as if prayers will not work for Manyu people. It is as if they have been selected for perdition. We always seem to plunge ourselves further into evil and odium that we empty every iota of love from our vocabulary and every pint of peace from our blood.

It would seem the period between March and August is usually our menstrual period where the Manyu people in America bleed as the invectives augment more. All this struggle for supremacy will not take us anywhere. Perhaps Akwaya could be like the unity child. The two groups cannot bypass each other. The proof is that, the list of donors on the Manyu Economic Development Conference and MPC have teams from both sides. Since there is much in common, then you should talk peace because you seem to be mindful of what the other person is doing more than what you are doing.

Each time you read a mail, someone is trying to be the local hero; someone is trying to self aggrandize himself or herself in the name of the community. You saw the reaction with the Manyu Economic Development Conference. It was the same thing with the MPC which is now like an eyesore. Each side trying to show that they are the ones making it to happen. Those who gave only a little; perhaps it was their entire mite, and those who gave aplenty; it was their entire mite too. All gave bountifully, and all made a contribution. When we intend to build a community house, those who gave a dollar are as important as those who gave a million because the glory goes to the community. One thing to be noted is that God loves a cheerful giver; don’t give with a grudging heart.

Manyu people, choose you this day who you will serve. If it seems evil unto you to serve Manyu then decide which division you will serve; perhaps your self-interests which your predecessors served. As for me and others, we will serve Manyu. You have only one division, Manyu and that is the division that most of you will go back to.
There is a power vacuum in Manyu Diaspora. He that thinks he is leading, but there is no one following behind is merely taking a walk. Right now, all the leaders in the Manyu Diaspora are merely taking a walk for there is no one following them behind. Most or all are kings without kingdoms.

I ask you today, for how long will you fight each other? If Manyu is for us then let us stop this infighting and develop it, but if it is self-interest, then let us follow it.

Behold, you have returned to quarrels rather than think of the suffering Akwaya people. No matter what you become and wherever you go, it would not change the fact that you came from Manyu. More so, it is a shameful and wicked thing to be happy alone. If Akwaya stays backward then all of us are backwards. Today, I challenge you: if it seems evil unto you to serve the Manyu community then choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the egotism that your fathers served or the love that we propose now. God forbid that you should forsake the division of your forebears to serve your self-aggrandizement.

You gloat in foreign land of being learned, but education without works is dead education. Look not back on how much we have quarrelled; look forward on how much we can build together. The race to heaven is not who finishes first but who finishes, and how many we will help to finish the race. Those who try to finish alone are called selfish. How long will you Manyu people argufy on who is the greatest amongst you? If Manyu is what brings us together, then let us join our hands and give it a facelift. Akwaya will either sing of our goodness or it will forever remain our collective shame. Many will die without ever touching a car, and others have died without ever seeing electricity or drinking from a tap. Those are all our brothers and sisters. Manyu wake up!

Until then, Manyu people get your acts together.

Would You Escape Hell?

It is out of love that I preach this gospel of hell today. There were two friends who had sworn to protect each other no matter what. In the outskirt of their village sat a forest. Anyone who ventured in never ventured out. The village drum warned all the villagers about its dangers. Walking by the forest, one of them jumped into the forest to see if it was true, but the forest swallowed him. His friend stayed at the door of the forest to warn everyone who was passing by not to go inside, for there is no exit door there. Today I stand like the friend of the rich man warning you that hell is real, and it is a place you should not go there, for you will never return. Don’t listen to people who say that hell is not real for God is too good to destroy the world. Let me repeat myself again: hell is real, and hell is for evildoers who refuse to repent.

Cain was tagged with a mark to eternally suffer and pay for his sin. God destroyed the people in Noah’s era with the flood (Gen 6-7). He burned Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and brimstone (gen 19:24), and lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace (gen 19:28). When the children of Israel made a molten calf to replace God, He ordered more than 3000 of them to be slaughtered (Ex 32: 1-35). Between Mount Hor and the Land of Edom, he sent fiery serpents to bite them to death because the Israelites murmured against Him (Numbers 21: 4-9). Listen to me and listen well. God has set a precedence that he can and will destroy stiff-necked sinners. Let me repeat myself again: hell is real, and hell is for evildoers who refuse to repent.

You can walk like a cat and shit wherever you want with no one seeing you, but heaven is seeing you. Some people have feasted on hypocrisy that they think everyone is their feast-mate. You may walk like Faith into the evil forest, but one day Young Goodman Brown will see you. You hold a Bible in hand on Sunday, but you sleep with the neighbor’s wife on Thursday. The blood of innocent children cries from the abortion clinic where you murder them daily. Hell is real and hell is for evildoers who refuse to repent of their evil. Let me repeat myself again: hell is real, and hell is for evildoers who refuse to repent.

If you do not repent, he will drop you into eternal fire that burns with brimstones. It does not consume, but it torments your soul from eternity to eternity. The parable of Lazarus and the rich man emphasizes the dangers of hell. God will preserve and enforce his word. He has promised hell for evildoers, and hell, He will give them. You can justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. Let me repeat myself again: hell is real, and hell is for evildoers who refuse to repent.

You will lift up your eyes in hell and see those you have hurt with your evil. You will beg them to dip the tip of their fingers in water to cool your tongue because you are tormented in the flame. There will be a great gulf fixed separating you and them. You will beg to send someone to your family to discourage them from following your footsteps, but it will be too late because now is the time for them to listen to the words of the prophets. Let me repeat myself again: hell is real, and hell is for evildoers who refuse to repent.

Do you draw nigh unto God with your mouth, and honor Him with your lips; but your heart is far from Him? Do you go to church as other churchgoers, and you hear His words, but you will not do them? With your mouth you show much love, but your heart goes after your covetousness. Do you associate with people who put on a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof? Let me repeat myself again: hell is real, and hell is for evildoers who refuse to repent.

You tell others to do good but evil sleeps with you on the same bed. You give alms and dress sumptuously to showcase your righteousness. It is not the long prayers you make in public, and not the tithes and offerings you pay that will help you escape condemnation. You extort from the poor and pilfer from the rich, and you have the blood of the innocent on your hands. Let me repeat myself again: hell is real, and hell is for evildoers who refuse to repent.

Until then, hell is real and hell is for evildoers who refuse to repent.

Why Did God Refuse To Heal Apostle Paul Though His Servant?

Reinhard Bonnke praying for for the sick.

I want to apologize for not replying on time to the sister who asked me this question. I read the mail, but I mistakenly deleted it. Your question again was “why did God refuse to heal Paul though he was a servant of God?" Perhaps we could even ask the question, "why am I suffering even though I am a servant of God." Paul was not the only one who though a servant of God, his prayer was not answered positively. God always answers everyone; negative or positive, but He will answer. What we mean here is why did God not answer Paul positively by healing him? The passage reads thus:
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong (2 Cor 12:7-10).

Paul had a successful and influential background because he was a member of the Sanhedrin. If God had left Paul to operate in his former status, then he might not have understood the power of God. Those who are gifted and skillful may feel tempted to believe that they do not need God; they can do all by their own strength. Knowing that the arm of flesh may fail you except God, then the righteous are obliged to walk not by sight but by faith. The passage does not say clearly what that sickness was, but we can infer that Paul’s physical infirmity was eye trouble (Gal 4:15). This was a thorn in his flesh that he prayed all manner of prayers to no avail so that the lord will heal him. The Lord did not heal him; instead he told him “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness”.

In the Old Testament (OT), when Samuel was to select the new king of Israel after the rejection of Saul, he entreated the Lord for Saul, but God rebuffed him and instead selected David (a man after God’s heart) because he does not look at the outward appearance; he looks at the heart. God does not need us to help him do his work (I Sam 16:7). Saul had faced the dilemma when he wanted guidance, but the Lord gave him deaf silence so he can go in the strength of his since he counted too much on physical strength (I Sam 28:6-7). Elijah was a man of God who was constantly in lack up to a point where one day he prayed that God should kill him rather than him living hand to mouth. God responded by sending ravens to make a table for him in the bush (I kings 17:4-6). David’s daughter was too sick that David prayed, fasted and wore sackcloth peradventure the Lord will pity him and heal her, but God still took away the child’s life (2 Sam 12: 13-23).

God did not save Saul and David because he wanted them to face the consequences of their sin. That means; if you had used drugs before becoming a Christian and the drug had damaged something in you, God may not heal you. He might leave you to face the consequences of your sin. Let us say that you become a child of God, and while indulging into sexual immorality, you picked up a chronic disease, God may not heal you. But that will be if leaving that infirmity in you helps you to serve him better. David and Saul came to understand that God is Alpha Omega; the beginning and the end, without him there is no God.

So then, why did God leave Paul in that condition? In his weakness all knew that what Paul did was not by his power but by the power of God, else he would have healed himself of that infirmity. In that condition, Paul “counted all things but loss for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ” (Philippians 3:8).

In that state, Paul built a bond of friendship with God and destroyed his friendship with the world. If he had his health intact, he could have loved the world and the things thereof, thereby, setting enmity with God. How could he have lusted after the flesh, have the lust of the eyes and the pride of life when a messenger of Satan butted him daily?

Therefore, if you have a physical infirmity as a consequence of sin know that it is the wage we earn for our works of evil and believing in Christ does not guarantee us healings. If your infirmity was brought on you as no fault of yours, then know that the Lord wants to use that to glorify his name and does not want to share his glory with anyone. Just surrender yourself to him and say, "Lord, I am the clay and you are the porter; mold me as you want." Give God the key of your life let him drive you to a greater destiny where a crown is reserved for those who finish the race.

Until then, rest assured the Lord can hear your cry and feel your pain.

Does Eruditeness Make You A Genius?

Dr Patricia Bath invented the Laserphaco Probe that restores the sight of those blinded by cataracts.

Thanks to Dr Ivan Getting for inventing the GPS that some of us do no more get lost when we travel.

Education without works is dead education. There is a pertinent issue; that of works going with our education. Those who sing the accolades of the erudite person always scribble a sketchy caricature that would introduce his or her genius in terms of academic papers published to earn qualifications. How can those papers published be converted into something concrete that could transform lives? Education is to enlighten and transform the lives of those who come in contact with it; take them from darkness unto light; blindness unto sight, and ignorance into information. When those who are vigilant and alert realize that, they call for a thorough retrospect if those achievements in academia benefit mankind now and after the holders vacate this world.

In return, those who venture to make the call are rather berated and chided. Gainsayers go further to question their father’s achievements; while, others reconsult the qualifications of the questioner. All those reactions are uncalled for. When an exponent of the learned submit what he/she thinks is a comprehensive list of accomplishments of the educated , they should remember that it is not tantamount to being subjectively considered a genius.

Perhaps he is right. Genius is not just intellect; it is intellect compounded with creativity. Having a 4 .0 GPA and PhD at 22 does not make one a genius, for there are many ways to acquire those; orthodox or unorthodox. Being a genius far exceeds publishing papers that were required for an academic work; they encompass those papers translated into true and lasting inventions. In that case, we may consider both Nicolas Copernicus and Isaac Newton as geniuses because they leapt from mere intellect to practicality of knowledge. Such would be echelon on which the educated climb to geniushood.

There is a difference between being a genius and a gifted person. Perhaps most of the academic saints we manufacture in our communities are actually gifted people. A gifted person is one who is extraordinarily endowed in his field, for he or she may not actually be bringing anything new apart from the perfection of his/her skills that surpass the normal human being. Yet the genius takes his brute intellect and translates it into concrete works that change academia and mankind. The gifted was born with their gift, and they harnessed it to perfection that mere mortals rise to acclaim them as demigods in their fields of expertise. The genius does not have such ability; he creates from the scratch.

What has the person you call as genius today created from the scratch by using his intellect? What have they published that has changed the lives of people? The presentation of academic papers is a requirement that qualifies him/her the affix of a Dr and perhaps secures a job through which he/she survives, but those do not make him a genius. Therefore, if there is nothing that someone has used his intellect to create and leave behind for their epitaph; then, he/she was not a genius, but a gifted individual. Nevertheless, if they did, then there is nothing to worry about for that which was multiplied through his/her genius cannot be subtracted by haters and distracters.

Until then, education must go with works.

Is Beauty In The Eyes Of The Beholder?

Lady Diana

Halle Berry

Many times we have people say “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. That is because we do not want to say that some people are ugly. That is mostly in relation to women physiognomy. To appease those who are less fortunate to be beautiful, we say that “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. I sat one day and heard a preacher tell his congregation that "everyone in here is rich." I turned to my neighbor and said, "No that is not true!" There are some who were born poor and would perhaps die poor. Some people to foster their ad hominems will ask me “are you yourself handsome or ugly”. I always tell them I am in between. Anything that is physical can be measured. That means; there are parameters that we use to say someone is beautiful or ugly. Therefore, I crave your indulgence as I play with these words.

I believe that an abstraction can only be measured when it is rendered concrete. Since darkness is an abstraction, then it can only be measured when it is made concrete. That is when it becomes alive, else it is dead. For you to know that a place is dark, you must be in darkness, else just hearing that the place is dark leaves us with a dead word. It is same thing with beauty or ugliness. To say someone is beautiful does not mean a thing until we see a beautiful person from whom we can extract the qualities of beauty, so that we can use those standards to compare with the said object we are talking about. Beauty is an abstract word that could be used as a concept. We can posit a theory that beautiful people do not come from your hometown; they only come from mine. When the word beauty is used as an inanimate noun, it is abstract, and it must affect the senses for us to be able to measure it. If it is used as an animate noun, then she must be “a very attractive or seductive looking woman”. Attractiveness may be subjective to an extent but very attractive will have objective standards.

If we accept that CO2 is the same in Brisbane (Australia) and the same in Bucharest (Romania), then there is an absolute! If there is an absolute in any given field on earth, then there should be an absolute in abstraction. That absolute is that; some people are beautiful, but others are ugly. A beautiful person is a beautiful person; there is an absolute truth. If all truth is relative, then how does anyone know that the position he or she has taken is even right?

When anyone says that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, he/she is saying that the word beauty is merely an abstraction and cannot be converted into concrete terms. In others words; there is no standard definition. If there is a standard definition then those standards could be applied on individuals to see if they meet them. If not, then they are ugly. It is for that reason we have the literary term apostrophe: "oh embrace me my hope."

When you validate an ugly person as a beautiful person then you are faltering the Law of Excluded Middle (LEM) that states that it is either A or non-A and not both. Not everybody can be right. Even though some people may see an ugly woman and pretend she is beautiful, they do not erase the characteristics of ugliness in the woman. We are conscious some depocaginous women need that for their daily survival, but it does not peter out the existence of the word beauty. When ugly and beauty become synonyms then pulchritude is the master of the individual.

Let me take it in simple linguistics terms. Perhaps since some of you are more qualified linguists than myself, you may get it. Beauty is a common abstract noun. Yes or no? Here is the definition of an abstract noun: “An abstract noun is a type of noun that refers to something a person cannot physically interact with”. Do you agree with this definition?

Step two. Let us define concrete nouns as “people, places, or things that we do experience with our five senses”. Their difference “The abstract class is the opposite - we can never experience these nouns according to our senses”. Is the dichotomy correct?

Ok this is what I have been saying heretofore. Since we cannot touch, smell, feel, see, or taste beauty, it must be converted into something concrete. In its abstraction, it is very subjective and even ugliness could be perceived as reality. When you convert it to something concrete, then you will use some parameters to make the comparisons or analyses.

Looking at Lady Diana every man affirmed that she was beautiful. It was not a matter of her being beautiful to one of them, even if she was not to the other. To all and sundry the girl was beautiful. That is because when she is cross-examined with the general criteria of beautiful people she passes.

Contrary to the assertion that perception is reality, it is not. Just because you see something does not mean that thing is real. There could be subjective apparition. Thus we cannot equate concreteness to reality because something could be concrete but fake. For example; just because a dollar bill is concrete does not mean it is real; it could be counterfeit. So we are saying that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder when wrongly perceived by the beholder. That means; it is not real beauty because his or her perception is faulty.

Therefore, we can only know that a woman is beautiful if we see one, not by going with the term beauty. As such, beauty cannot be in the eyes of the beholder if the beholder uses the appropriate parameters to apply the abstract term beauty. When used in abstraction it could be in the eyes of the beholder but when used as concrete, thus objective apparition, it is judged with the canon of what is beautiful.

Until then, beauty is not in the eyes of the beholder.
