Many churches: Pentecostal and traditional are exploiting their members as shown in the video above. Take for instance the idea of sowing seed. I have never seen that theory in the Bible. The only time Jesus was talking about sowing seed was in a parable about a farmer (Mt 13:19-38). And that seed was an anthropomorphic usage for the word of God.
Others use the saying of Paul: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Gal 6:7). In this case which is more an agricultural allusion does not work. No one has ever sown a big seed. A grain of corn does not need to be big to produce a mighty cornweb. To plant yams we cut just a little piece to put into the ground. But today preachers tell you the bigger your seed the bigger your blessings. That is all Retiary Gospel. Repeat after me: Retiary Gospel. Jesus says: “If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you” (Lk 17:6). Your faith needs just to be small to enable your widow’s mite-seed to germinate big blessings. That means; if you give like the widow, the little that you can afford, then you would be blessed.
Let me show you again that you are being exploited. The same preachers prophesy on you, telling you that the Lord would bless you. Until date, nothing has changed: you still look like an epidemic. They turn and tell you that it is because you did not believe or did not stand on the way of the blessing; in short that you did something wrong. Do you see how they are playing with your mind?
Prophecy means forthtelling or foretelling on behalf of God. If anyone says they are prophesying, they mean they are speaking on God’s behalf. And before God makes you a promise, he knows that it shall come to pass. You do not need to do anything it shall meet you. He will tailor and fashion things in a predestinated way that all the pieces of the puzzle will come together. What did Joseph, Saul or David, have to do? Look at Joseph; he was sold into slavery, jailed and yet because he was destined to be king from the beginning it came to pass. It is the Lord’s doing. Therefore, if someone prophesies, and it does not come to pass, it is not your fault, but he or she is the false prophet.
I do acknowledge that the Bible says give your tithes and offerings and that you will be blessed. That is enough! Yet I see in some churches about 5 types of offerings before the service comes to an end. So why do you keep giving if you are not blessed. Someone is not keeping his own side of the bargain. And that would not be God. Look carefully at Malachi 3:10-12 and tell me what the problem is.
No doubt and without bargain, God requires we give our tithes (one tenth of our income) and offerings. However, the issue is with the idea of giving because the man of God prophesied that if you give miracles will happen with you or giving by sowing seed. If it is sowing seed one does not need a big seed to reap a big harvest. All they need is a good seed and a good seed is one’s life that they live for the glory of God, yet when you gave nothing happened. Such was not good prophecy, and the giver should desist from giving those types of gifts. The tithes were for the priests and Levites (since they were not farming), so they could have food to eat and also for church maintenance. The tithes and offerings were also to help those who needed. The problem today is that the priest and Levites of today are far more in affluence than the giving parishioners and that is where the problem lies. Ministers today have financial hegemonies.
If someone does not give their tithes and offerings, they should feel guilty double, but if they give their tithes after giving their lives to Christ, then they should expect to reap the dividends of God devouring the devourer.
It should also be clear that one does not need to give to be blessed because we serve a compassionate God that blesses the farm of the wicked like that of the righteous (Mt 5:45). However, there are certain blessings that only go as fulfillment of the promised conditions. The fact that we prayed does not mean that God will answer. There are a couple of reasons why our prayers may not be answered: if it was not the appointed time for God to solve that issue, (Eccl 3:1), to test our faith (I Pet 1:7; I Cor 10:11), to make us dependent on God (2 Cor 12:7-10), and if we are living in sin (Jer 5:25; Jer 4:18).
Listen to me, and listen really well. If God promised you, you should receive. The reason why you don’t receive is because God did not promise it to you. The Bible says: “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Num 23:19). If God opens a door for you nobody and nothing can shut it (Rev 3:8). If the door closes on you it is because it was not God who opened it. Jeremiah told the people: “Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.” (Jer 1:12). God will always fulfill his word. So those prophesies people give you out there, they give them to swindle your money. They know that is what you want to hear. Yet there is one thing you must know with the blessings and prayers that God answers. If you are praying for food and God does not give you food, he knows how he will make you to survive.
Until then, don’t allow your pastor or church to steal from you.
