“Why Do Men Cheat?”

Permit me say that both men and women cheat though statistics show that women cheat more than men . In this lesson, I will give you the reasons but after each reason, I will suggest a possible solution per God’s word. There are about seven prominent reasons why men cheat. Men cheat because sin is a nature of humanity. Men live by sight; they easily lose appetite for the woman’s physiognomy, nature’s payback, consequences of a nagging spouse, bad company and a pretext to end a bad relationship.

Every human being has a sinful nature that leads him or her into sin (Ps 51:5). Some have allowed this nature to dominate them while others have resisted the urge, but the surest way of resisting this nature is by walking in the Spirit so that you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Gal 5:16). That is why couples should pray together, walk together, go out together and strive to be together. This entire personal space thing is a loophole invitation for the Devil to spoil your relationship.

The second reason why some men cheat is because men are anatomically fashioned to live by sight while women live by touch. Jacob just merely saw Rachel and fell in love with her (Gen 29:10; 18). To be able to break a woman’s barriers, you must touch her senses while with the man, all he needs to do is see a woman and he becomes unstable. It is not for nothing that the Bible says “it is good for a man not to touch a woman” (I Cor 7:1). It is generally believed that men use more logic while women use more emotion. That is why we say women have a feminine side while men have their masculine side. That does not mean that women do not reason. This may be an unjaundiced generality since it is intramural because the author is a man and has not experienced this theory. A good man should not live by sight; rather they should live by faith. (Hab 2:4). Those who live by sight follow their natural proclivities which are sinful, anyway.

One other reason why men cheat is because they easily lose appetite for the physiognomy of the spouse since women mature faster. To avoid this situation, a man should marry a woman who is younger than him and is more beautiful than his ugly self. That way you always look at her as a gift from God that needs to be cherished and loved; to be molly-cuddled and pampered with good treatment, lullabies, love poems and love songs. If a man is more handsome than the wife, it may augur an ill omen.

Whatever you sow is what you will reap (Gal 6:6-7). You may be fortunate not to reap the wild oaks you have sown, but if you sow infidelity, you will reap infidelity. Most women had premarital sex with the man they intended to marry. If you can cheat against your Maker, why wouldn't the man cheat against you? If you do not want infidelity in your marriage, you avoid premarital sex. If it happens, you try for it not to continue until you marry. If you cannot contain, you marry fast and live by faith.

Men cheat as a consequence of a nagging wife. A wife or spouse is there as a helpmeet (Gen 2:18). Solomon said that a virtuous woman “will do him good and not evil all the days of her life” (Prov 31:12). I don’t think nagging is doing anyone good all his life. When Isaac’s mother died, Rebecca comforted him (Gen 24:67). If a man cannot find comfort inside his home, he will solicit comfort outside. There are three things that will keep a man home (peace, sex and meals). In the absence of peace, he can get sex and meals anywhere. However, every man wants a place that he can sleep and at times snore without anyone beating him. A family that prays together, stays together, and the bond obtained in prayer strengthens the marital covenant and chases out infidelity.

Another reason that makes men cheat is bad company. “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners” (I Cor 15:33). Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend (Prov 27:17). Therefore, you should walk with people who can impart your life positively. Do not walk all the time with cheaters, for they will impart you with cheating. Don’t allow your husband to walk with wayward men or friends.

Another reason why men cheat is because of the folly of wealth. “The love of money is the root of all evil” (I Tim 6:9-10). When a man has money, no matter how ugly he is, beautiful women will kiss him. Nowadays, gold-diggers or Coffee Bang Fengs can kiss even a frog. Consequently, a man must not love the world nor the things (money included) of the world because when you love the world you inherit “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life”. These are all mundane things that will make you cheat.

Finally, some men cheat because they want to get out of a bad relationship. Rather than cheat just so the woman would get angry and leave, why not try to make it work?

However, not every man cheats, so it should not be a categorization of all men. There are some decent men out there. Make yourself descent and you will have a decent man. To avoid games don’t play them because games beget games and infidelity begets infidelity.

Until then, I wish you the grace in your choice of men.

A Shout Out To Jesus Christ: My Best And Most Trustworthy Friend!

Prophets prophesied that he will be very controversial and so old men waited to set their eyes on him before they died. He did not preach to please people; rather he told them “he that is not with me is against me”. What manner of Man is this?

He was not a Bigman because he was born in a manger, yet emperors envied him. Though an adolescent, he debated and lectured law professors. He could ride any horse, but he trekked with those who served him. If he was in a hurry, he walked upon the sea. He could have lived in any mansion, but he did not have a home of his own just so He could feel the plight of the homeless and the destitute. What manner of Man is this?

He began alone but had thousands and still has millions of followers. Though the only mediator between God and the world, he still prayed himself too to serve as a practical teacher. Through his prayer, 2 fish and five loaves of bread fed more than 15 thousand people. He was a carpenter who knew all about farming, commerce and medicine. His prayers resuscitated the dead showing his victory over death. What manner of Man is this?

Though a civilian yet he ordered military commanders and even diseases. Lepers were cleansed, hemorrhoids disappeared, demons fled into herds of swines and trees died at his command. He even ordered water to turn into wine and it obeyed. He charged the storm to be still and it acquiesced. He healed every patient who cried for healings and all manner of diseases. His compassion compelled him to heal every child that was brought to him and had compassion for widows that he raised up their children. What manner of Man is this?

He was a man of justice who forgave even those who hurt him. Ask Malchus; he replaced his ear that Peter severed in anger. He made outcasts insiders. What manner of Man is this?

He was a man with little education but he spoke in parables witted in almost every figure of speech language could afford. Mud in his hands was eye medicine to heal the blind. He ordered fishes to pay his taxes so that Him and his followers would comply with human law too. If he was living in America the IRS will be his bosom friend. What manner of Man is this?

He was a man who was rejected and despised by those who should have loved and honored him. He was betrayed by his own friend. He was acquainted with grief; a man of sorrow indeed! He was hated from birth and those who hated him finally killed him. He accepted the punishment just so He may impute righteousness on the sinful world. He understood people’s sorrows and chagrins too. What manner of Man is this?

He is the only man whose dates of birth and death were already foretold before he was born. When his corpse touched the ground dead people abandoned their tombs and came to town. He is the only dead who ever ascended into heaven so that you too may conquer death. God made him the only way to Him.

Give a shout out to Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus Christ! Yes, Jesus Christ!

Until then, know Jesus and your sins will be forgiven.

Cameroon Diaspora: Valetudinarians Who Cannot Claim Freedom.

In 1987 I met a patient in Hôpital Bonaberi. There were ten people per room. On the opposite row slept five patients and the beds were numbered from 1-10. Number 1-5 have died and it would seem the spirit of death was taking people by their turns. Monsieur François was bed #8. He could not walk but could entertain a conversation all day long until you start to wonder what type of patient he was. People said he was faking but the doctor said he was paralyzed from waist to toes. When death crossed to our row #8 requested to be moved to another room. But before he left we had bonded together as good friends because I was #9. #7 died and # 8 moved and I was discharged the same day Monsieur François was transferred to another room. Two weeks later he died. That is the same way the Cameroonian Diaspora is; paralyzed from waist to toes; it is on western sickbed but running its mouth all day long.

They write rubbish over the net, take all pseudonyms and sobriquets to threaten the government and real freedom fighters. They brag on what they will do to the government but as you know they are toothless bulldogs with scabies. It is a shame when the goat bleats at strangers while the house dog sits unconcerned.

Most of them living abroad know that they have been stealing from the government by taking salaries while living abroad. If they dare step foot in Cameroon and raise their voices their records will be unearth and Opération Epervier will swallow them. Do you see why they sleep on their beds and run their mouths? They are paralyzed!

Most of them who have reached the high level of eruditeness, know that the transcripts they entered into colleges were those fake transcripts that were doctored. Their mischief may be in a Pandora Box but not without a key. Do you see why they sleep on their beds and run their mouths? They are paralyzed!

Most who are working as nurses (CNA, LPN or RN) know that they are fake nurses whose home qualification are all fake and that standing at the forefront of fighting the government they may be stamping their foot into their mouth. Do you see why they sleep on their beds and run their mouths? They are paralyzed!

Most of them are more corrupt than the president they try to remove from power. They cannot even conduct a transparent election in honesty. The Bakweri people are not up to 20 in Atlanta but they have three groups. Their Bakossi brothers are the same. Talk less of the Manyu people who cannot even hold a simple convention in peace. At least Biya holds his conventions in peace. Tell me which Anglophone group here abroad that has not had division or had arguments of embezzlement. Not even CAMSA (the student union) can escape. Do you see why they sleep on their beds and run their mouths? They are paralyzed!

Biya would be asking the people that if the SCNC is for you then why are they selling you asylum affidavits. These affidavits have made people to be on perpetual sickbeds that they cannot talk because they fear that serious gravedigging will expose their false claim of persecution, and will result in their repatriation to go face the monster they so fear. Do you see why they sleep on their beds and run their mouths? They are paralyzed!

Fake asylum files here and there. Even church ministers running away with the pretext the government is pursuing them. You and I know there is no religious persecution in Cameroon. The next minute they are in the government party. How? Do you see why they sleep on their beds and run their mouths? They are paralyzed.

Then those who are merely 419 cannot do anything. Even when they are persecuted they cannot stand for their rights because the American Police, FBI, and INS may be on their heels for deportation. Do you see why they sleep on their beds and run their mouths? They are paralyzed!

That is why they have resorted to “let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die”. Party here and party there; dance here and dance there. All they talk about is dance and dance while their brothers die in abject poverty. They crucify CPDM during the day but feast and dine with her at midnight. If the devil is the devil how do you mingle with him then? Their parents have been in perpetual bondage with a tunnel that seems far out of sight. Yet it matters less to them because they are valetudinarians. How can they make any meaningful change? Do you see why they sleep on their beds and run their mouths? They are paralyzed!

When you compare how much dishonest those in the Diaspora are, the palmarès of Paul Biya makes him resemble Saint Bartholomew. Our hands are not clean. He who comes into equity must come with clean hands.

Until then, get well and fight or forever remain in your bed and run your mouth.

Flushing Racism Into The Ocean

Racism is not just hating another color but trying to subjugate that color and make it a perpetual underclass. In Africa it is called tribalism. There are some tribes that subjugate others and want to keep them perpetually underclass. But permit me take the current center of attraction: the US. First we must acknowledge that racism is not only practiced by white people; it is also practiced by blacks, Hispanics and Asians too. America being the melting pot one sees the constant struggle of each of this color trying to dominate the other. Racism is a character weakness and character witness is not limited to a given color. Some black people have even treated me worst than most white people have. And indeed if the Blacks, Asians or Latin Americans had the majority they will perpetuate the same acts that their white counterparts are doing. That is just the way the heart of man is.

I have heard a white colleague complained that she is being treated this way because she is white in a predominantly black school. I have gone to the Mexican market and not knowing I understand Spanish I wanted to change a $100 bill in a market. The seller told her sister on the counter that don’t change that money I don’t like these black people. I called their attention that I heard what she said, the sister apologized and told me not to mind her sister. I joked with her and left. I was helping a friend do some cleaning in a house and the main builder was an Asian. He told me that “those white people are all exploiters”. “I don’t like them and no gonna give any of my contracts to a white person” he amplified.

Attitudes like these do not solve the problem of racism. In this world that we live there is a potion that could serve as a better antidote to racism, prejudice or bias. That is love. Considering that there are racist black people, racist white people, racist Asians and racists Latin Americans all living in the same country, it is normal for one group to think the other is more racist than the other. But just because I cry that my neighbor is dirty does not mean I am clean. There could be a reason why I am crying.

Therefore, we all must change our mentality and look at human beings as equals. Those that think they are subjugated should avert the temptation of making innocent people from the other isle pay for the broken pieces of their color compatriots. Deal with people as individuals and treat them as individuals. I have always rebuked friends who say: those white people or what are you doing with this white person? But when I see them too treated funny I don’t hesitate to react. I was talking with a group of white friends and they said those black people do this and I said Lord have mercy. Even with me present you are saying things like this? One of them said; “We don’t mean you; you are different”. But I insisted it was wrong because who knows what you say when I am not here?

Treat your neighbors as you will love to be treated. I have had two neighbors; both white and black tell me when some young hoodlums wanted to break into my car. If I was unapproachable they will not tell me but the chemistry we have had obliged them to look after my back.

Furthermore, intermarriages will solve this problem. I remember one time my cousin told me that his father in law did not like black people but since he was married to the daughter he had no choice but to deal with his presence. Today they are friends. They are friends because he has discovered though he is black but his heart is made of gold, and that he has received more love, acceptance and value from him than he has ever received from some white people.

Finally, not every situation is racially motivated. I was teaching opposite to a white teacher who was teaching Spanish. He had put out a female white student for timeout in my class. When a student enters the first thing I ask him/her is “why did your teacher send you here”. So she said “That stupid Whiteman put me out for doing nothing”. Coincidentally the teacher was coming to give her work to do in my class. So the teacher heard her. He gazed and steered at her but she continued with her conniption and appended: “you heard me well; you stupid Whiteman”. The teacher bubbled and shook his head and I calmed him down. I said you don’t use a grenade to kill a cockroach brother. Just go and write her up and I will second the referral. Two days after he resigned because he could no more take it.

But can you imagine if it was a black kid who told my white colleague you stupid Whiteman, or worst still can you imagine if it was a white kid who told my black colleague you stupid Blackman? The airwaves would have been buzzing and since the media always lacks what to report that would have been breaking news.
When face with a situation like this, let us look at it carefully before concluding it is racism for the cry of racism no matter how genuine or phoney will always raise two camps.

The human being is one and we have a common enemy the devil. Whites Only families are breaking apart like the Blacks Only families. The Asian carries excrement in her stomach like the Latina. Black people have toothache like white people do. Every color grows old and fragile. We are all one; created by one and the same God. Let us learn to accept one another and to live as one. Let us desire seeking the good of every individual no matter their color. I have seen black people give kidneys to white people and have seen white people give other things to black people. Life is short to hate people but it is beautiful when you can share your happiness with others. Remember; it is a shameful and wicked thing to be happy alone. Racism does not even make you happier for if you were a racist and saw the race you do not like your heart flares. It is the same like seeing something you do not like.

Until then, please, say goodbye to racism for it does not make you happier.

THE UNCERTAINTY OF LIFE’S JOURNEY; JOSHUA 3: 1-3.

Crossing the journey of life is like crossing a major River on foot in its overflowing days. Life seems bleaker than it was yesteryears ago. We hate to look back at 2008 because we seem to see but not touch the American Dream. Hopes are slimmer and dreams are lost. Because we have suffered for too long we drink with insatiable gullibility fairytales on fairylands. Depression is now a homemade product. Such was the case of the Israelites too. The children of Israel were promised Canaan on the other side of River Jordan. They did not know the way; never passed that road or been there before. Thus must rely on a guide. If they had to follow God then they must be holy because He is holy (I Pet 1:15). They would do that through his priests. God will manifest himself in a pillar of cloud by day to keep them cool and a pillar of fire by night to keep them warm. By so doing the people knew that God was alive. Today I want to flashback at how the children of Israel crossed River Jordan and to lend you some principles that will help you make the journey of life joyfully because life is always a journey similar to that of the Israelites.

Similarity 1: looking for direction. Every human being is looking for direction some point in life; each looking for the square peg to fit in the square hole. They had to follow the priests and the Levites. Who are you following to lead you into the journey of life? I guess your counselor. But did you know that even the best counselor sometimes makes mistakes. Ahithophel the best did failed and committed suicide (2 Sam 17:7; 23). Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (Jn 14:6). Some people are used to not asking for directions and they end up turning round and round the same road. Time wasted can never be regained. So, why not follow the Guide: Jesus that never loses direction.

The second similarity: a new road we have not passed there before. What human has lived the journey of life? None! So why do you court the psychic? Sylvia Brown made the news on The Montel Show when she told a woman that her boyfriend drowned. Much to Sylvia's shock, the woman revealed her boyfriend was a firefighter and died in the 9/11 terror attacks. Think of Tracy Higgs, John Edwards, British clairvoyant: Lisa Williams and the rest. If they knew how to win those Mega millions they will not take the little dime you have to survive. None of them and no human with supernatural powers can predict to you all about your life because God alone is Omniscient.

Third similarity: the condition to sanctify ourselves. How do you live? Would you accept for your life to be placed on a giant screen for all to watch? The Nigerian 419 scams just showed America and the world how gullible and hypocritical we live with a doctor trying to wash money from black paper. Sorry Mugu! The people complained to Jeremiah about hardship and he tells them that: “Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you (Jer 5:25).” The crocodile cannot go to the jaguar for food.

The fourth similarity: follow the priest and Levite. I know nowadays it would seem like the modern days priests and ministers need to follow the people rather than the people following them. But again would you pull off all your teeth because you have a bad tooth? There are many good prelates that we should follow than those going astray.

Fifth similarity: God is alive! God is among you. Does it look like God is with our world or it looks like he has abandoned us. If you trust God and follow His guidance then impossible things to you will become possible. If God does not calm the storm He will calm you in the storm.

The journey of life is a path we are all condemned to saunter. Yet what matters is how you go through. My hope is that we make the journey with joy and victory, and we would like to look back rather than regret why we were ever born.

Until then, count on God who knows your future.

Prof Henry Louis Gates’ Jr Arrest: A Taste of the Black Man’s Daily Milk In America.

When I first heard this story methought the officer was merely a victim of the Big Man Syndrome. But as I read it from newspapers and watched the TV it was clear it was a serious racial profiling. Perhaps he thought to himself “Look there goes another black man trying to burglarize a home by passing through the window while his friend stands aloof watching”. Once more the police got it wrong; not every black man is a criminal!

Professor Gates came back from a trip and realized that his key had jammed. So he was trying to force open the door. A police officer was called to the scene and he asked him for identification. He informed him he was in his own house. The officer still rejected the explanation and arrested him. Obama in one of his speeches alluded to it. I am glad Obama is still conscious despite drinking the milk of greatness to acknowledge that “we know separate and apart from this incident is that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. That's just a fact.” This is a fight that every human being on earth should fight; and fight unto death.

If the police officer did not know Mr. Gates what about the testimony of neighbors. The neighbors at least knew him. True, the police officer was merely doing just his job but some good judgment that the address on the ID, the face and bystanding neighbors could be sufficient reason for the police to leave the man alone or issue him a citation for disorderly conduct but not to arrest him.

Last Saturday I asked a friend to drive me to a place to pick up my glasses. As if I knew it I said I don’t like to drive without glasses because one of these bad cops could pull me over and then pin on the absence of my glasses to tow the car.
When we were coming back we took a remote path as I was trying to teach him a raccourci (shortcut) to my house. It was dark and coming to a stop sign he passed it. I told him he just ran a stop sign. He quickly retorted “where is it”. I joked with him that “The police usually hides over there. You are lucky they are not there this night”. Immediately the police came and pulled us over.

We exited the road into a church compound. He asked for his ID and asked the guy if he has been drinking. The guy said he took two bottles of beer. The Police officer asked him to step out of the car. He did. He conducted the sobriety test by asking him to place his left leg in front of his right leg and walk towards him (the officer) when he asked him to do so. My friend did and did it well. The officer then asked him to recite his ABC from G-O the young man did. Then he asked him to blow the breathalyzer and he did and it read 0.6 meanwhile the legal limit in the state of GA is 0.8. Thus the guy passed all those tests. To my greatest surprise the officer arrested the guy for reckless driving, driving under the influence and running a stop sign.

He asked him if I had a license and he told him yes, “he is an experienced driver”. At this time I had picked my glasses. But the officer did not ask me to drive the car or the guy rather he insisted we must call another driver. I did not step out of my car because he would have looked for a reason to accuse me too for obstruction of justice and resisting a police officer. So I just left him alone and made calls for people to come and pick me up and the car. During this time my friend has been arrested and I am guarded by another police officer.

At the station; an hour later, my friend was retested and the reading of the breathalyzer was the same and a receipt was issued to him as he was granted bail. The wife bailed him and he came home.

There are many tales like ours told daily and if allowed to be told those who have a heart will mourn like flies. This is the America we live in that lectures North Korea, Iran and Zimbabwe on freedom. It is high time every American began talking frankly on racial issues and how to cure this gangrene because there is no racial equality in the United States of America. Or perhaps the world should tell America “Doctor don’t cross oceans trying to cure other people; cure yourself first”.

The officer may be a fine officer but racial issues had blurred his good judgment that he forgot that once someone has been ID as living in a home, he cannot be arrested for breaking into his own home.

Nonetheless, I do not think there should be any disciplinary action against Sgt James Crowley or for him to be forced to apologize. If he thinks he overreacted and it is bad let his conscience counsel him on what action to take. Forgiveness always brings true remorse than lex talionis (an eye for an eye).

Until then, do unto others what you want them do unto you.

The Contribution of Manyu Women in Cameroonian Artistry

Let me start with a shout out to my mother Hannah Ako; a true Manyu woman who gave her all for me. The Manyu woman contributed greatly in artistry in Cameroon as compared to many women in other places. Most of the art that was done in Manyu was done by women since the men were in the forests falling down iroko and mahogany trees. One of the greatest pieces of art was the Ngbokodem (an immobile statuesque representing a dead lady). You can still find most of the villages in the hinterland of Manyu but the practice of Ngbokodem was still in Ntenako up to the late 90s; for you still have most of the statues. Entertainment was mainly Monikim.

A female child was selected and kept indoors for 6 months where she was taught various dances and songs and then various villages were invited for the unveiling of the siren from which she would also find a husband. Until the forties in the Manyu community, most women were not sent to school because of fear of her being beaten but mainly because education was regarded as investment and that if she got married it would be an investment to the husband rather than the family.

A former classmate from Mbeva quarters in Ntenako City was selected to become a Monikim dancer. First she had to be trained for six months in a locked down situation where she appears outside only to be taught how to dance and gyrate her hips. The lady that was selected was not the tadpole type without bherackghanet (lustful buttocks). She had it all in one packet that when she swings it to her left then to her right everyone fell the jingling or as her behind swung “jiggiri jiggiri”.

The people gathered every evening to watch her learn how to dance as they sang. The young men hovered around trying to pick up young girls for mami and papa. It was usually a time of diversion for the young people and she was usually like a role model that most young girls wanted to emulate. They coordinately gyrated their hips like whirligigs to the musical rhythm played from locally made drums and flutes.

The monikim disciple wore foot bells that jingled and produced a subtle and soothing music as she dances. She also had beads on her neck and a red hat with feathers and beads. Dancing Monikim was not for adventurers, wanabes or even impostors because any defiance was rewarded with a heavy fine.

In addition, the Manyu women were in charge of hoeing the farms and also fishing with locally knitted baskets as their men cleared the farms and did the hunting. Women who dared try to do what men did were given the misnomer of a man (sterile and can not bear children) or an affront to men. That does not mean there were no exceptions; the crazy feminists of those days.

Every major part of the Manyu tradition like most African traditions had the inclusion of libations and oblations and the rest depended solely on the individual families for there was not a fixed rule that spelt out the requirements and conditions from the major ones I put forth in my introductory paragraph.

Furthermore, the ngboghondems and Epkeres in addition to efakghas (clappers made out of Indian bamboos), architectural design: membohs (locally made mud beds) and bhekereh-ntop (hand-plastered houses) were living signatures of the women’s art. Before the women plastered the house the men will first pin the goads, the women come and plaster then the men will return to roof it. During each session they did it with songs or praise and made the job look light and as one community.

Nowadays, the women are doing a lot for most of them have been the bulldozers of the virgin forests that were jobs done by men alone. The breakthrough in technology means that there is virtually a fine line between a woman’s duties and a man’s job. The major difference will be especially that of bearing children; since women have been anatomically created to conceive and deliver children. More so, the presence of money that makes things easier for everyone. If a woman has money she can hire people who would clear her farms and plant cocoa. That is why you have women with cocoa farms which was a business handled by men only.

Nevertheless, though with the evolution of the society, certain aspects of the Manyu culture still remain strange lands to women thereby marginalizing them and still making them inferior. The Ekpe has strictly been a patriarchal society though you may have women playing a limited and supervised role like clapping and singing too by the corners. Women have been in Nkanda- a sister to Ekpe and they are usually called Ekandims. A shout out to Ekandim Meg and Ekandim Chu of Delaware. Furthermore, there has never been a female (Ewujom) Obasinjom carrier as with the male counterpart.

Unfortunately, with the evolution of the society, people are losing interest especially not seeing the financial remuneration that accompanies it nowadays. At first it was certain you would end up with a good (wealth, strength and beauty included) husband especially because men looked at the woman's behinds first before making advances in those days. A thin girl was never selected to dance or if she was selected she had serious bherackghanet else you could hear an angry male voice in the crowd shout “fere ka yi a bheke bwong bherackghanet” (remove her; she does not have big buttocks). You smile; don’t you? End of Story!

Until then, a shout out to all the Manyu women out there.

The scapegoat for Cameroonian Pedophilia ?

Why do Cameroonians blame white people or tourists for pedophelia in Kribi (video)? What is the role of the Cameroonians serving as panderers? In Lady Bianca I & II, Lady Bianca the main protagonist goes home, and lures young and desperate girls, exports them overseas and puts them in a prostitution home. An African whoremistress exploiting her own people; she even provides the johns. The argument could be that they are struggling for survival. Does the struggle for survival efface integrity? Was any child forced to take these men at gun point? More so, we cannot even talk of exploitation considering that most of these children do these acts with the tacit or overt support of their parents, tutor or guardian. To a greater extent we should blame the parents for failing to raise up patricians and the kids themselves for being so ostentatious and avaricious that they carry their problems on their heads to quickly pick the bait of evildoers.

If they were brought up traditionally then the argument that they are enticed hits the brick walls customarily where a child never took anything from a stranger to use it without showing his or her parents. But with the world becoming a small village there have been crisscrossing of cultural values causing the African home bringing to fall into tatters. Biblically, a whore was lapidated but today and for years though a law exists it has never been enforced. Adulterers were put to death. Consensual sex between a fiancée and another lover meant death. Raping an engaged virgin resulted to the death of the rapist because the damsel could not defend herself. If a man rapes a woman and she cooperates without putting up any resistance then she too was culpable (Deut 22:21-29). That would eliminate some phony rape cases which are meant to extort or payback certain individuals. But these girls are not raped.

To a lesser extent the tourists and expatriates should be held responsible for contributing to the corruption. But if the parents and their kids would cure their hyperopia (langa) for western goodies these people will not sue them for rejecting their decoys. If the kids were below the age of accountability (10-0) or if these girls were raped one would hold the pedophiles entirely responsible but a closer look at the videos shows a people bent at making money in total defiance to probity. The parents and kids do that facultatively and greedily on their own rashness.

This case is almost like a bribery case, both the individual bribed and the briber are guilty because they are all involved in wrongdoing. If kids are charged for sleeping with adults the solution to Pedophilia would be cured by 45% and the pedophiles pay for 45% while patricians could bring reforms that would take care of the 10%. The child is an active participant just like the adult. One argument certain individuals would give is that the child does not think properly. If the child made a better deal would its lack of mature intelligence be blamed for the good deal? Do all adults who involve themselves into deals exhibit an equal amount of intelligence? Once a child ventures into adult acts (sex) he or she should bear the brunt that goes with it. Nature (in STDs) does not discriminate between children and adults.

No child in that video is ignorant that sex with an adult is bad. In an extortion case we could blame the extortioner while having some mercy for the victim because he had no choice. Yet even at gun point one should prefer to do the right thing and die than to do the wrong thing and live and then blame it on people. I have watched those videos and have seen the children following the grownups on their own volition. Whenever the struggle for survival supersedes moral integrity rather than make introspection, charred consciences play the blame game and fabricate scapegoats.

However, this is neither a rape nor spoliation case where the victim has no choice. The parents, kids and the pedophiles have a choice to make when confronted with these alternatives. So it would be proper to partition the blame equally.

Can Panhandling Replace Life Insurance?

Now that no one has died I think I should bring this topic else people start to call me heartless for raising an issue while there is still a corpse on the floor. There are people who die here and their friends and relatives want the community to contribute money so that their corpses should be shipped home. That is common with people who stand by the roadside with a plate in hand begging for money for survival. The term panhandling sounds like someone is involved in an invention rather than someone begging for money in the street. So I will use the word begging only.

When an individual dies and people start to beg, you must remember they have the leeway to the fund thenceforth. Anyone with a contrary opinion; opportunists and swindlers say he or she is heartless because it will be standing on their way to riches. They are not fighting for the dead and their family but for their individual interest. Why would anyone be heartless simply because they tell you that begging should not be turned into a Cameroonian or African artifact?

Contrary to the others who claim that a fund be instituted and the money controlled, I believe no fund should be instituted. If anyone lives as if there is no tomorrow, there should be none. One of his fears was that even if we had to dispose of the corpse it will still be expensive. There are many ways we can dispose of the corpse without spending a dime. We could either donate it for medical purposes or just do not claim it and sign a disclaimer. The government and academic institutions would be glad to take it. After all, it is a mere corpse.

Sometimes I hear about someone who has been living here for one year and working, up to acquiring a “hero status”, yet the said individual has no life insurance. Then there are those who have come to the United States to retire: I mean those who helped the Cameroonian government to be bankrupt, and they don’t have life insurance. Those should be treated like the first case.

However, if someone came here for a visit, or for medical treatment and they died, we are morally bound to make any contributions that would take the corpse home. I have sat aback and watched Cameroonians callously exploit their own compatriots with the various institutions they form with the pretext of developing the community; meanwhile, it is to enrich themselves. Even those collections in most cases are to enrich certain individuals. Whoever told you the defunct wanted to make the said individuals rich? Sometimes we raise up the argument that it is to help the kids. How many times did you as a friend or relative ever helped those same kids before the individual died? The reason again for this begging is because some individuals want to make themselves community icons. Nobody was ever known for helping the dead but the living.

It is most at times sad to see someone who has been a blessing to the community get sick and is struggling with their medical bills, but they are abandoned to walk the dreary road of life tediously plagued with trials and temptations leaving him or her with an ephemeral enjoyment. We all know that no matter what type of insurance you have in most states, the bill is always cumbersome for the patient. We should not put into abeyance calls for support until someone dies then we saunter with pomp in our regalia and plumes, dancing and weeping in our Bacchic revelry, reciting eulogies upon eulogies on what a hero he was.

Why are we waiting for people to die first before we celebrate their greatness and “hero status”. Oh my people, why don’t we ever think about someone when they are alive? You say you do. I know you do. Those who think about the living think about palliating their burdens and giving them a life they did not have.

Those who will remain in the annals of history are those who set the oppressed free, those who catered for real widows and widowers, those who showed compassion to orphans and the poor. No human: living or dead should be showed favor he or she could acquire but rejected. We do not teach people by shooting them on the head but what about their toes. Until we start to teach Cameroonians by shooting their toes (abandoning their copses), the living will never learn.

Until then, think of me while I live.

Kpakanda Syndrome.

Kpakanda is a pidgin word that comes from a man who is usually a suffer man, and who has become pale that his stomach is touching his wait because of poverty. Many at times because of his hardship he behaves uselessly.

You know you are a Kpakanda when you beat your wife.

Kpakanda is also a lady like Mjimjim who used to beat the husband. When little kids were back from school they will be shouting dep yi chi enyhu, dep yi chi enyhu, dep yi chi enyhu (hit him on the mouth hit him on the mouth hit him on the mouth) Unfortunately, he does not live in America to form a Battered Husband Club.

You know you are Kpakanda when you have a child and abandon the child.

You know you are a Kpakanda when you drop out of school to be committing crime.

You know you are Kpakanda when you borrow someone’s thing and do not take it back or before you take it back you have messed it up.

You know you are Kpakanda when you are always frowning and angry as if someone is the cause of your problems.

You know you are Kpakanda when you are always comparing yourself with your juniors

You know you are Kpakanda when you are riding the child’s bicycle in the neighborhood.

You know you are Kpakanda when you see a woman, you do not say a word but once they go you start to run your mouth about women.

Kpakanda does not know how to swim and he screams when they push him into the river.

You know you are Kpakanda when you allow your parents to marry a woman for you or remote-control your household.

You know you are Kpakanda when you do things just for food and drinks.

You know you are a Kpakanda when you do not write anything but when others write you whine and complain how their English is bad. Wouldn’t it be wonderful for those with better English to write? Oh no, that is Kpakanda Syndrome.

Until then, the Bible has an Antidote for the Kpakanda Syndrome.

Amplifications of Obama’s Speech to NAACP.

It is not like it is the first time that we have heard these words but just that they were spoken again by a man who has braved all barriers to be where he is.
Obama acknowledged the contribution of NAACP in creating racial equality in the America and which did trickle down to the world. He amplified that though he is the president but that does not mean change has fully come. The people: you and me will bring full change. One thing is clear he is not only a president for the black people; he is a president for all Americans. As Americans there are many problems they are facing. Those problems affect both white and black families, Hispanics and Chinese families.

To Obama, the urgent barriers to be broken are the health barriers where HIV/AIDs is causing havoc in many black families. He encouraged the people to use the same energy they used to fight racial inequalities to fight and extirpate the new barriers.

Obama challenged the participants to make an effort in raising up their children. To say the least: whether the African American agrees with him, Cosby, Will Smith or not; it is true. African American parenting is gravely lacking behind as compared to other parents. Go to any school and look at the percentage of parents who attend the parents teachers’ night. It may tell a very gloomy tale that may make you cry.

Every African American child wants to be a sport or movie star because that is where the money is. Perhaps what Obama should do is increase the salary of teachers at least so they do not look like mendicants. Why should a child make any efforts to study when if he/she can hone his/her talents well at seventeen they will be millionaires? A feat their teacher who has taught for more than 35 years will never attain!

Yet the gap between the blacks and whites though existent could be breached if we all keep our biases aside and come for the common good of humanity. A child is a child no matter the color and should be given its own fair chance to succeed in life.

Until then, it was a great speech.

Should DNA Be Used To Determine Parental Legality for VISA?

The American Embassy in Cameroon began using DNA to determine false children from the real children of a parent(s). In some cases; some spouses found out that their spouse was either cheating or cheated on them. But in other cases they knew it was not their child but the partner filing had to pretend that he did not know the wife was cheating on him. What baffles me is how we switch constantly with this righteousness thing. When we make wayo (cheat) and get a visa we claim the Americans are not smart; we can fool them anyhow but when they develop better techniques to catch our deceptions we cry foul.

If Mitochondria DNA was also conducted the embassy will even find out that that child is neither related to the father nor to the mother and so both are telling lies to obtain a visa.

What the American embassy should do is even go further. When DNA for the father fails then they go to Mitochondria to see if the child is related to the mother at least (this time at the state’s expense). If the mother passes then they should be given the visa but if she fails too that means none of the adults is related to the mother. They should be prosecuted for fraud. That is the only way fraudulent practices like those would be curtailed and extirpated.

In most cases they are children of relatives, neighbors and friends whom people have received money. With the advent of DNA they pretend that they did not know their wife was cheating on them. After they leave that embassy you can see them laughing that “You too you dey oh; you bi di make like say na true. I beg no begin di give man shame so”.

However, there is one thing that may elude the American or westerner. That is a situation where a child was born by a relative: sister or brother and you took the child from birth; raised up the child until he or she becomes an adult. That is your child. That child does not know the father; for the father does not recognize the child and the child does not even know the whereabouts of their kpakanda father. It would be wrong for you to win the visa lottery and leave that child behind because DNA tests show that you are not the immediate or direct father of the child. Once there is ample proof that that child has no legal father and no other father except you especially with documentation there is no excuse to force a family to separate from a child who has been part of their joy from the time it was born.

Finally, Cameroonians and most Africans should blame themselves and not the Americans because rather than rebuke fraudulent behaviors they extol them and when breastworks are put in place to eliminate them they cry foul. We should encourage one another to speak the truth and nothing but the truth no matter the consequences. Refrain from asking your sister who won the DV to marry this or that or to take this niece or that nephew. We have put a bad label on ourselves that constantly reads: fraud alert; beware it may not be his child”.

Until then, blame not the American; blame your people.

Jimmy Carter Leaves Church Over Treatment of Women

I felt sorry to hear that Jimmy Carter has left church over the treatment of women . If he was to leave church he should have left church since over the treatment of black people. I once visited a church and no one greeted me; no one shook my hand apart from her parents. Some of their kids actually tested my skin if my color stains. I am talking in the 21st Century. Thank God that my white friend had already told me that it would happen. I still feel sad that even today we are still struggling with accepting others as equals; people transformed by the same blood of Jesus. What a shame! I expect anything from non Christians because their minds have not been regenerated but Christians should know better about treating others. Christianity of inequality is no Christianity.

After the fall, the punishment of the woman was to serve man (Gen 3:16). In the days of Moses women were treated as second class and required to be subservient to the men. A woman actually was called one of man’s properties (Deut 17:15-17; I kings 20:5). Nevertheless, even within this culture, there were women prophetesses like Deborah (Jdg 4:4) and Huldah (2 Kings 22:14).

Islam too has not helped the cause of women especially when the Qu’ran indoctrinates Muslims to beat their wives (Sura al-Nisa 4:34). I have not understood why anyone would have his wife but does not hang out with her, beats her and maltreats her.
Yet there are a couple of factors that continue to keep women as second class to men. It is not only religion but language has also promoted this male chauvinism. Why do we still say bachelor of Art or this rather than a MS in this? The word Man is used for both male and female just to name a few.

The structures of the society: how women are treated; paid lesser than men and that they too had to struggle for suffrage. There are cultures that just make the woman to be in an inferior position. For example in Burkina Faso the man walks ten meters behind the wife while in most Northern cultures in Cameroon the woman walks ten meters in front of the wife.

In the New Testament, Jesus breached the gap between men and women when he associated women in his ministry and made Mary Magdalene the messenger of his resurrection. The Apostle Paul reaffirms the concept that in Christ Jesus there is neither Greek nor Jew nor is there female or male (Gal 3:28).

Unfortunately, this is one of those concepts from Jewish tradition that crept into most cultures and refuses to go. Before the advent of Christianity in Africa, there was power sharing between the male and the female. The African society gave a woman the right to lead in a public arena as much as men. Examples are the Mwami of Rwanda and the Modjadji V of South Africa traditionally called the Rain Queen who were leading their villages in the 1800s long before feminism even showed its marriage breaking head world wide.

Nonetheless despite all of this; is it sufficient reason to refrain from going to church? The church is like a lamppost to hold the bulb. Can the bulb stand on its own yes but it shines better with the post. Going to church helps us to be exhorted and rebuked. Sometimes seeing the way people use the church irritates me and makes me feel like I should never set my foot into a church. But then, the Bible encourages us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together (Heb 10:25). Perhaps we could say if the church was causing you problems, or if you disagree with your church, rather than stop going to church, leave the church and start yours. Regrettably people leave their old churches and go back doing the same thing they criticized their former churches were doing.

Until then, I hope The Southern Baptist and The Full Gospel Mission (my former and home church) will integrate women.

Sesekou Dr Tabe James

Dear Friends,

Sesekou is the highest title in Ekpe a society in the great Manyu people’s culture. Dr is seemingly the highest title in education if not of professor. Happiness is the highest thing anyone should desire and have. Dr Tabe James Besong has achieved all. On the day of his Ekpe defense he answered all the questions of the Leopard as he slept in the bush. For the first time he spoke face to face with the leopard. Rather than be hurt he tamed the Leopard to be his friend and they spoke in one language. He engineered Sam Mohtok to produce this wonderful piece of traditional Music. That song by Prof Sam Mohtok says he has completed the echelons of Ekpe.

"Jesusman:

You did not mention that Sessekou/Dr. Tabe James Besong is also the first CROWN PRINCE of MECA-USA who; hand-in-hand with the Father of MECA-USA, Chf. Carlet Ayuk-Ngem Ako-Arrey, served the Manyu People for 3-Terms, totalling 6 consecutive years. Their rign was that of LOVE & PEACE for Manyu, matched by NON other to this day!

Dr. James B. Tabe and his lovely wife, Dr. Caroline Tabe's SELF-LESSNESS, their love and respect for all people and their most darling SMILES, are truly commendable! This young, happy and non-pretentious couple, deserve immulating by any Manyu or non-Manyu couple, single or come-we-sitdown who WANTS TRUE LOVE/HAPPINESS

Drs. James and Caroline Tabe, no plackard, words or praise from me or any other Manyu or Cameroonian, can truly match your DEDICATION to the UPLIFTING of Manyu Culture & Cameroonian Community in the United State in 20yrs.

May God Keep Blessing and Directing You. My Love as Always!

Lady K. Ettandip
Mother of MECA-USA."

Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce to you the man of ambiance, the man whose face has been invaded by Mr. Smile, a man who makes friends with everyone, the man whose Esangmgbe (scepter) whispers secrets to unhappy people, the man whose Ekpe has no bounds and limits, he can cross the water on an elephant’s back, and a man who has driven failure a million miles: Sesekou Dr Tabe James from Mfuni village resident in Dallas Texas.

Until then, enjoy Manyu tradition and culture.

Is Corruption Hereditary or Contagious? (MECA USA Case Study)

We all know that Africa and most third world countries are very corrupt. We also know that every country in the world is very corrupt but in the developed world corruption is more refined. In Africa and third world countries we do it without shame. But what I don’t understand is, is it hereditary or contagious?

The law enforcement: police, gendarmes, even the army are very corrupt. If you have all particulars for the car the police is angry and they call you malchanceaux (badluck man). If you do not have, you are their friend; they call you “Asso”. You put them at the gate they take bribe, to make your ID card they take bribe, you want them to arrest a criminal they take bribe, they arrest you and you want to run away you give them bribe. These fellows are a disgrace! Where did they get this: from their parents, friends or the environment?

Ok let us go to the office in ministère de l’éducation. You knock and thick madam is just looking at you as if she is not picking your height. You greet she asks you if we eat greetings. You spy through the office as she takes files into the office but you see only a boss’s coat; he is in the beer parlor eating and drinking with prostitutes. Where did they get this: from their parents, friends or the environment?

To enter into the National Team one must have a godfather or a godmother no matter their talent. If you bribe the Minister of Sports your name will be on the list. If you bribe the head of FECAfoot then your name will be there. Now they each have 23 names totaling 46 names for one and the same team for one and the same country. They start to fight and FIFA says I will suspend them. The president will have to intervene. Where did they get this: from their parents, friends or the environment?

You go to the hospital with someone who has been hit by a car. The nurse passes you with her little dirty cap on the head as if she is not seeing you. She drags her body and pulls her legs on the floor as if to attract attention. Tacitly he is saying “This is a nurse passing are you guys not saying anything”. Then you turn and say madam please help us my brother has been hit by a car. She turns and asks you if you have some money. You say our father died years back we are orphans struggling. She will tell you: let him die at least you will live to fight for him. You finally see the doctor and he prescribes you medicines and then they sell you the medicine. You turn and look at it, it says: “échantillon médical, a n’eut pas vendre”! To see the doctor in addition to your billet d’entrer you must choko (bribe) the nurse. The choko is shared between the nurse and the doctor. Where did they get this: from their parents, friends or the environment?

You are at the airport: very excited about coming home. The custom and airport agents start to go through your bag and when they see a flute they like, they take it and say: mon "petit fils va aimer ceci”. When you refuse then they start to complicate matters for you and when you give it to them they help you carry your bags to the gate. Where did they get this: from their parents, friends or the environment?

For you to go to a government secondary or high school nowadays you must bribe the principals. I mean for a government school that was there to help the poor people get education. Then you go to the university and no matter how much you read, those who do not even come to school make higher grades than you who does all your work. Women make the highest grades because they spread their legs or can give money and men have to try and give some money too. I know if the Colonel’s wife is reading she knows it is true. I gave her my assignment which she merely changed the name. She made 14.5 while I made 10. 5. The same assignment; two different people and two different grades.

If you did not go to school they will say: “Look at you; lazy man, your friends are in school you are here eating and drinking like kpakanda man”. Then you go to school and graduate but there is no job. They say concour (entrance exam); you write but those who did not write pass and you who duly registered and wrote fails. If you come to a place where they are hiring, and they just hear your accent you are finished. They tell you at once that there is no job. Where did they get this: from their parents, friends or the environment?

Elections are conducted but before they vote they already know the winner. Let me use the recent Manyu Elements Cultural Association (MECA) elections scenario. They are living in America so we suppose their sense of justice is at least better than the folks back home. Now listen to what happened and tell me where they got it: from their parents; friends or the environment?

There are ten members in their Independent Electoral Committee (IEC) and six are supporting the incumbent while two support the challenger and two are neutral. Three of the six members of the electoral committee are running with the incumbent. The wife of the vice of the incumbent sits in the IEC. Is that still an independent IEC?

They have 97 absentee ballots and there are chapters which had more absentee voters than the number of members in that chapter. How can the number of votes be more than the number of villagers? That is only in Africa! The IEC coordinator had only one eligible absentee ballot. She was taking more than 15 minutes to remove just one ballot from her handbag. She was making as if she was conducting fortune telling and was looking for the right shell to pick. When she picked it, it was a bad envelope. So the elections were disrupted. The Manyu People in America held a convention but could not vote. The police they themselves hired drove them from the hall like squirrels on a roof.

There is an organ: Council of Chiefs aka Council of Crooks (COC) that was supposed to be the arbiter in terms of dispute but there is no constitutional provisions giving it that privilege. The head of that institution has been a chapter chief for more than 16 years. Six of the ten members support the incumbent. The elections did not take place but COC declared the incumbent the winner to rule for another two years. Isn’t this only in Africa where elections do not take place but someone is declared the winner by default? Where did they get this: from their parents, friends or the environment?

Until then, fighting corruption should begin with individual transformation.

The Big Man Syndrome

In 1995 I was standing at the Postoffice in Ngoa Ekelle trying to cash the 50 French francs one of my father’s friends had sent to me from France. A gentleman came from nowhere and walked straight to the chef de post’s office. He had met many of us standing on the line waiting for our turn but he passed us and went straight into the office. After some time he came out, smiled at me and went his way. I then turned and asked my neighbor (the guy next to me) if he knew that guy. He said; ah ah you don’t know that is a Big Man. At once I remembered that there is something I call The Big Man Syndrome.

You know you are a big man when you have a car but your chauffeur drives you around while you sit on the right hand side in the back seat.

You know you are a Big Man when you go to places but other people go and call women for you.

You know you are a Big Man when your goods are cleared at the Port without you coming to the port.

You know you are a Big Man when your wife puts to birth even though she does not come to the Meeting but your house is full.

You know you are a Big Man when you are bereaved and people cry without resting, you beg them but they refuse to stop crying.

You know you are a Big Man when the teacher spends more time teaching your stupid child than he does on other kids.

You know you are a Big Man when you easily find an organ for transplant when there are others waiting for years without getting even a fly.

You know you are a Big Man when no matter how you come late you will always have a special front seat in Church.

You know you are a Big Man when you show up at the Postoffice and walk straight to the manager, give him your package and an envelope to do the posting for you.

You know you are a Big Man when you never stand on the line no matter how short it is.

You know you are a Big Man when even after you die people are still afraid to tell you the truth.

You know you are an African Big Man when your coat sits there on your office chair while you are in a beer parlor.

You know you are a Big Man when you take people’s land and no one does you anything.

You know you are a Big Man or have a Big Man in your family when if you get arrested for a crime they instead blame the arresting officer and then ask him to apologize.

You know you are a Big Man when you can order for someone to be locked up even without them committing a crime talk less of even judging them.

You know you are a Big Man when you always find a seat in every occasion no matter how full it is.

Unfortunately, the Big Man carries excrement in his stomach too like the small man. Did you hear me well? I said the Big Man too carries excrement in his stomach and urinates too. The Big Man can only sleep on one bed and in one room at a time. The Big Man has only one penis. Look; the Big man wears his pant the same way the small man does. So what is this Big Man Syndrome all about?

Until then, your Big Man starts and ends with you!

The Color of AIDS is Black

I recently read that AIDS is rampant amongst blacks. My question: why would HIV attack only a given color? This is selective information to promote an organization. Why would a disease select only a given color when there are many poor Light Skinneds than Dark Skinneds? The same thing Africa is going through, Eastern European countries are experiencing too. There is no such thing as "Black Plague". They say that the type of HIV found in Africa is type O or zero and that type 1 and type 2 are in developed countries. The CDC would tell you we have tests for Type 1 & 2 but we don’t have for Type 0. There are no means to conduct type O tests. So how do they know there is type 0 in Africa? All the statistics is just gross manipulations to dominate Africans and make them look inferior, or a means to frighten them so they could open up and people use them as cavies to test new pharmaceutical drugs.

I have shown you how a people could be manipulated to organize their own funeral. From 1990-1998 reports came out that approximately 8 in every 10 Africans had HIV. My question then is that after more than 19 years (1990-2009) if that was the case, it would have been a deathly cocktail when mélanged with poor standard of living, high infant mortality, natural and man made disasters, poor governance and inaccessibility to retroviral drugs. Then three quarters of the population would have been cadavers. Contrarily, the population growth is alarming. Africans learn this: no work of research is carried in a vacuum. The researcher selects his/her sources and garbles those of his/her opponents to conform to his or her predilection.

Consequently, time has come for Africans to take their destinies into their own hands. If every one wore a condom or at least abstained (don’t hate me) we would not need US policy makers to safe us. Let each individual get themselves tested because the earlier you find out your state the better chances you would have to survive long.

I hear Africans crying all the time that HIV/AIDS is killing our people. So I then organized a free HIV Testing session. To my greatest surprise and dismay, someone with a PhD asked me if the community had voted and accepted to take the HIV Test. Does the community need to vote before its people take a free HIV test? Is it the community taking the test or the people? Now tell me, is it not in our power to encourage those back home to save their lives by taking the HIV tests abroad? Should we continue saying that the Westerners do not want to help us rather than do the little that we could to change the status quo? Those who are educated and who know that the earlier you get tested for HIV the better your chances of surviving do not do anything. Rather they join the chorus of “Westerners are not doing enough”.

Secondly, Africans cry that Westerners do not want to sell them cheap retroviral drugs. We have enough resources to engage in researches that could match the West but due to corruption we embezzle the money, fly the capital to the West and then sit and cry that we need help. If we could manage well our natural resources then we could supply all these drugs free of charge to all those who are infected that we do not need the West. Countries with free health care programs for all do not have the resources we do. So why are we blaming the West for overcharging the drugs?
When epidemics like this strike, people should avoid exploiting the race cart for remunerative purposes because though there is racism, no Light Skinned gun-pointed any Dark Skinned to have illicit or unprotected sex.

One may wonder aloud “what if you find out you were HIV positive but do not have the means to treat yourself”. That is not true because there are many places offering free treatment no matter your color. Secondly there are many natural immune boosters that individuals need to take without necessarily coming from a rich background. From eating enough fruits and vegetables daily we would get the necessary vitamin, acids and calcium needed for a healthy body that can repel diseases. We do not even need these artificial vitamins flooding our markets today. Enough sleep; eight hours a day (hear me well the two jobs specialists and overtime experts), would cure diseases and extend your life. Most of our troubles come from stress and since our immune system has been broken down already, we have no choice but to succumb to AIDS. Plastic surgery may repair a damaged face but a plastic smile will be insufficient for a miserable life. Therefore seek true happiness and refrain from the synthetic and ephemeral happiness ingrained in Western rat race hedonistic culture.

The mood now is to drink coke immediately as we wake up from sleep. It baffles me how learned people who learnt that coke, coffee and sodas are diuretics (dehydrating substances) would give preference to coke rather than water knowing well that 70% of their blood is made of water, and water does not only serve as a refresher, but a cleansing agent in your blood vessel, and a transporter. You think you have arrived by drinking coke now rather than water. Don't you? You even hear people say “hililili, the man has arrived, money is persecuting him that he is now ‘taking clearance’ early in the morning with coke rather than water”. While Americans are using their mouths to inherit obesity, Africans are using the blame game to kill themselves.

What has happened to balanced diet? We don’t need to be rich to eat a balanced diet. Medications for hypertension and diabetes were not known in Africa because we did not suffer from those diseases. We did not suffer from those diseases because we ate balanced diets. Nowadays people go weeks eating only agric chickens and piglings to show they have arrived. Vegetables are now a redundant foodstuff relegated to the wretched. Did we not learn that prevention is better than cure? Ah we live in an age where cure is better than prevention.
Africans and Dark Skinnned people, your destiny is in your hands; so stop the blame game!

Until then, the Color of AIDS is not Black.

Is your Pastor and church stealing from you?

“Good morning Pa Arrey, this issue of tithes and offerings has been an issue I personally am still battling with despite the lenght of time I have been a Christian. My understanding of this issue is still so blurred that I feel guilty each time I give and whenever I do not give. This guilt trip is overtaking me so much so that I do not know what to believe any longer. I actually have more questions than answers concerning tithes and offerings. Sometimes I begin to think that some of my 'yet' unanswered prayers are because of what I give or do not give. I usually question those blessings that some humans receive and they are comfortable with and they did not even pray to God for it. What about that?” (Esther)

Many churches: Pentecostal and traditional are exploiting their members as shown in the video above. Take for instance the idea of sowing seed. I have never seen that theory in the Bible. The only time Jesus was talking about sowing seed was in a parable about a farmer (Mt 13:19-38). And that seed was an anthropomorphic usage for the word of God.

Others use the saying of Paul: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Gal 6:7). In this case which is more an agricultural allusion does not work. No one has ever sown a big seed. A grain of corn does not need to be big to produce a mighty cornweb. To plant yams we cut just a little piece to put into the ground. But today preachers tell you the bigger your seed the bigger your blessings. That is all Retiary Gospel. Repeat after me: Retiary Gospel. Jesus says: “If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you” (Lk 17:6). Your faith needs just to be small to enable your widow’s mite-seed to germinate big blessings. That means; if you give like the widow, the little that you can afford, then you would be blessed.

Let me show you again that you are being exploited. The same preachers prophesy on you, telling you that the Lord would bless you. Until date, nothing has changed: you still look like an epidemic. They turn and tell you that it is because you did not believe or did not stand on the way of the blessing; in short that you did something wrong. Do you see how they are playing with your mind?

Prophecy means forthtelling or foretelling on behalf of God. If anyone says they are prophesying, they mean they are speaking on God’s behalf. And before God makes you a promise, he knows that it shall come to pass. You do not need to do anything it shall meet you. He will tailor and fashion things in a predestinated way that all the pieces of the puzzle will come together. What did Joseph, Saul or David, have to do? Look at Joseph; he was sold into slavery, jailed and yet because he was destined to be king from the beginning it came to pass. It is the Lord’s doing. Therefore, if someone prophesies, and it does not come to pass, it is not your fault, but he or she is the false prophet.

I do acknowledge that the Bible says give your tithes and offerings and that you will be blessed. That is enough! Yet I see in some churches about 5 types of offerings before the service comes to an end. So why do you keep giving if you are not blessed. Someone is not keeping his own side of the bargain. And that would not be God. Look carefully at Malachi 3:10-12 and tell me what the problem is.

No doubt and without bargain, God requires we give our tithes (one tenth of our income) and offerings. However, the issue is with the idea of giving because the man of God prophesied that if you give miracles will happen with you or giving by sowing seed. If it is sowing seed one does not need a big seed to reap a big harvest. All they need is a good seed and a good seed is one’s life that they live for the glory of God, yet when you gave nothing happened. Such was not good prophecy, and the giver should desist from giving those types of gifts. The tithes were for the priests and Levites (since they were not farming), so they could have food to eat and also for church maintenance. The tithes and offerings were also to help those who needed. The problem today is that the priest and Levites of today are far more in affluence than the giving parishioners and that is where the problem lies. Ministers today have financial hegemonies.

If someone does not give their tithes and offerings, they should feel guilty double, but if they give their tithes after giving their lives to Christ, then they should expect to reap the dividends of God devouring the devourer.

It should also be clear that one does not need to give to be blessed because we serve a compassionate God that blesses the farm of the wicked like that of the righteous (Mt 5:45). However, there are certain blessings that only go as fulfillment of the promised conditions. The fact that we prayed does not mean that God will answer. There are a couple of reasons why our prayers may not be answered: if it was not the appointed time for God to solve that issue, (Eccl 3:1), to test our faith (I Pet 1:7; I Cor 10:11), to make us dependent on God (2 Cor 12:7-10), and if we are living in sin (Jer 5:25; Jer 4:18).

Listen to me, and listen really well. If God promised you, you should receive. The reason why you don’t receive is because God did not promise it to you. The Bible says: “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Num 23:19). If God opens a door for you nobody and nothing can shut it (Rev 3:8). If the door closes on you it is because it was not God who opened it. Jeremiah told the people: “Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.” (Jer 1:12). God will always fulfill his word. So those prophesies people give you out there, they give them to swindle your money. They know that is what you want to hear. Yet there is one thing you must know with the blessings and prayers that God answers. If you are praying for food and God does not give you food, he knows how he will make you to survive.

Until then, don’t allow your pastor or church to steal from you.

MICHAEL JACKSON like ANNA NICOLE SMITH: SAMPLES OF AMERICA ’S MISPLACED PRIORITY.

Michael Jackson's death reminded me of this article I wrote in 2007 about Anna Nicole Smith.

Vicky Lynn Marshall; a siren from a broken home who took the sobriquet of Anna Nicole Smith was born in November 28, 1969, died February 8, 2007 at 39. Her mother: Virgie Mae Tabers divorced and remarried five times. No doubt Ms Smith had a high appetite for men; one baby three would be fathers. How does a stripper suddenly become a role model because she marries a millionaire? Do millions transform individuals? Many people died in Racine County Thursday but her death seized all the media outlets that every eye and ear was condemned to watch and hear about her death. This misplaced priority decimates morality from society. Celebrity status may guarantee sumptuousness but it may equally scourge away true happiness that life becomes so synthetic; fantasizing its existence in coping mechanisms.

At 23 years old in 1993, River Phoenix collapsed and died of a drug overdose. On 19th Jan 1996, Don Simpson: one of Hollywood 's most successful producers of the 80's & 90's died of a drugs overdose. Margaux Hemingway committed suicide just like his namesake: Ernest Hemingway’s with an overdose of pills on 2nd. July 1996. Del Shannon.: singer famous for the hit “Runaway” committed suicide; shooting himself in the head, on 8th February 1990. Former baseball star: Ken Caminiti died of a drug overdose. Elvis was reported to have taken over 5,000 drugs in the last 7 months of his life and now Smith. Does the society seem to care that these seeming role models abuse substances or get addicted?

The idol status we give to sport and movie stars make them use performance enhancing drugs which lead to addiction. The great Mike Tyson just checked himself into rehab. He cannot find joy in women and bars anymore. Mike, Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. If life was found in wealth then Elvis would not die of drug over dose and Smith would not be that “drugged up”.

Continuous use of prescription drugs would lead to addiction. Every little disease doctors put patients on eternal prescription boosting their numbers with the pharmaceutical companies while caring less of the patient’s outcome. There is a doctor that does not put you on prescription drugs. His name is Jesus. Perhaps it may sound today like farcical comedy saying Jesus heals because Christians are sick too. We all have human bodies and there are many who profess Jesus but deny the power thereof. But no true Christians who cast their cares unto God would seek coping mechanisms.

Have you heard “show me your friends and I will tell you who you are?" Hanging around drug addicts will make you one. Anna Nicole’s mother decries Ms Smith hanging around the wrong crowd. Misplaced priority! Iron sharpens iron and like mindedness attracts like mindedness. What do you expect from a solitary and individualistic society of everyone for themselves God for us all; an artificial society where people chat more on the net with strangers than with their own families. Britney Spears the girl next door just celebrated her second digamy. She is a show window of beauty without lacking beauty within. They confess on cameras and tabloids that they are happy but their acts show them dysphoric. Africa would have been as addicted as their western counterparts if not of their destitution. Latin Americans grow it and you see Scar Face as exhibit A. The Americans and Europeans have the means to whet their high appetite and so drug samples in human bodies roam the streets. Drugs took away Anna Nicole Smith!

Leonard Bias died of cocaine intoxication. How many pastors, doctors and teachers do you hear dieing of drug overdose yearly as you hear with the sport and movie stars? Perhaps because they are not on the news as the celebrities but that again is the misplaced priority. Any society that despises teachers for movie and sports stars has to learn many funerals songs because it would sing them for a long time. The title for her song could be America's misplaced priority.

In 2006, 42 celebrity splits took place. Some of the reasons people give for the emptiness in Hollywood are avarice, peer pressure, vaulting ambitions, self defense, dregs of adolescence sexual abuse and depravity. They are all byproducts of misplaced priorities that began at home. Parents would attend all football practices and games of their children but would not attend a parents’ and teachers’ night. They would not even return a phone call when the child is acting like it left its medication at home. The ratio would be one is to 50 when one compares the way the media shows celebrities against scientists, doctors, researchers and teachers on TV. Why does a sport or movie star make more money than a teacher? Misplaced priority; emphasis laid on the one who pleases the body or makes them feel good for the moment.

Here is the misplaced priority. Anna Nicole Smith did not reach 9th grade but she was a spoke person for people. A woman who callously sold sex in public in these words “do you like my body”. Apparently extracurricular activities seem more important than education after all whose face is on the TV. Isn’t it that of the Rap, Hollywood and Basketball star? Compare the salaries of teachers and the High School rookie into NBA or NFL. The teacher is not even qualified to cut his lawn; misplaced priority. No wonder the kids are suffering from the Copycat Syndrome. That syndrome has blurred the line between reality and fantasy; realism and idealism.

Truth has become more absurd than fiction that clean consciences have become seared and scarce commodities. Nowadays good is bad and bad is good. Parents don’t have money for scientific calculators but they can afford a $125 sneaker. Anna Nicole Smith may be gone but she was the true cross-section of America ’s misplaced priority. It is an incorrigible tragedy when a young beautiful woman is clutched by drugs.
Until then, may the living take them to heart.
