Hon Rose Abunaw Absolved of Visa Fraud

Four accused sit in jail waiting to sort out their liberty for being in position of fake mission orders from the Cameroon National Assembly to enable them obtain visas to the US. The four men Frankline Gana Ndaga, Cyril Kpuye, JC Akina and Dominic Nkongho Ewang allege that Dr. Samuel Fonkam Azu'u issued them the fake orders. In addition, that Hon Rose Abunaw has also been involved in issuing fake orders. It should be noted that it is not only the private press reporting but even the government: CRT and Cameroon Tribune. They all agree there are people in jail for bearing fake mission orders that they obtained visas from the American embassy. The question now is from where though?
They alleged that they paid 12 millions to Dr Fokam Azu’u. Some people argue that the story is not true because those young people could not afford for 12 millions to pay just for mission orders. When people want to come to the US and know they will succeed they engage in sham marriages where the relatives of those they marry pay the money. It is on that basis that many people entered this country as husband or wife of a total stranger. Considering that those mission orders are accepted by foreign embassies it is possible that they generate a big business. The recruitment could not be done directly since people could get their relatives who bring in clients.
Furthermore, the contention that the visa fees are too cumbersome and no country on earth will endorse it is weak. That would be untenable because the National Assembly neither knows nor is it the official policy of the Cameroon government to issue those mission orders to hoodlums. This is all the initiative of some unscrupulous individuals to make themselves rich through whatever means they can. If people can pay 5 millions to get into ENAM and other professional schools why would they not pay even 6 millions CFA for mission orders to the US if they are sure to get the visas. After all, isn’t it believed that the streets of the US would sprinkle enough dollars to reimburse their creditors? Consequently that will be a weak point why the culprits’ story could not be true.
The second argument was that the government was trying to set up her own people. The positions of those accused may generate some suspicion only if the said individuals were against the government. Why would the government incriminate its key players when the opposition voices that the purpose of creating ELECAM was a veil to steal the forthcoming elections. Therefore the government would not be setting them up.
Thirdly, people wonder why the Press officer at the US embassy in Yaoundé will not make statement. It will be meddling into internal policies of a nation and that may not be regarded kindly by the other members of parliament who may insist on the departure of the officer. When corruption reigns, the mouths and eyes of people are partially close for fear they bite the finger that starves them. The visas would be offered after proper investigations but then their hands may be tied. Though they know that those mission orders are fake but they have no right to call for an investigation for fear there is a backlash.
Fourthly, some have alleged that the opposition being against ELECAM would have masterminded the plot. Yet things to consider are these: there is no amount of money that the opposition would have given these young people for them to face the wrath of the government knowing how much fury they will incur from the government officials they accuse.
Fifthly, others say the opposition set the guys up. But the opposition would not be able to arrest the guys. The opposition does not arrest people at the airport. If the government did not arrest them no one would have known. It is probable that someone from the embassy tipped an officer at the airport who laid wait for the ruffians.
However, after thorough investigations there is still no reason why Hon Rose Abunaw is dragged into the matter. Therefore right minded individuals should dismiss the report than buy canards from Cameroonian journalists and criminals. If one is dishonest to bear fake mission orders how can we believe their tales.
One thing that makes a story credible is the source. In this case the journalist used a ghost name rather than their real name. The journalist did not see the mission orders that were issued. Does that ring a bell? In addition, knowing that the private press in Cameroon is not answerable to government officials they are totally free to write what they want but the journalist chose a ghost name. If it as credible why would the journalist avert inscribing their name on such great revelations? Thus the evidence is far from the accusations. Indeed the journalists are not credible but hirelings to soil the good name of Hon Rose Abunaw.
As you know; elections to the senate seats are coming up and every one is jockeying for position. Some of the Manyu people say that she is blocking their senate and their prime minister bids because the president thinks they already have someone at the top. So they prefer to pay blackmailers to slander her out of their way.
The mistake journalists in Cameroon make is that comrade Biya does not appoint people from newspaper recommendations or endorsements. Hon Rose Abunaw is vice speaker of the National Assembly on her own merits. It is strange for the opposition to always think that every government official is a simpleton. Thanks to Hon Abunaw CPDM has widened its permeation in the US. She is an excellent and progressive dynamic lady who wants the good of the people. One of the few parliamentarians who actually does something with the project fees given them. She is a hope to many young women who always thought that politics in Cameroon was only for men.
President Biya is aware that she tenaciously came to the US and revitalized the CPDM to give it the facelift it so needed. Today CPDM is almost in every household in the US that even non Cameroonians know about the CPDM.
Gainsayers bleat that she came to the US to look for those she issued visas. This lady has a high pedigree of academic acumen that she will not stupefy herself to come to the US and be flying from one state to another looking for people who have overstayed their visas. People have come for Olympics and other serious conventions and never went back. Not even the Cameroon government sent an emissary to look for them. So why should deserters be her cross to carry?
Don’t we say innocent until proven guilty. So why the rush to endorse the accusation; up to the point where we are requesting she resigns? Does it mean simply because a lady comes up with a story that I drink tea it is true? Where has shrewdness traveled to? My people it is a sin to speak on a matter before hearing it.
Until then, I urge you all to support Honorable Rose Abunaw as I wish her well.

Is the Holy Spirit Confusing Us?

On Wednesday, 7 Jan 2009, Abimbola Adelakun wrote the article “Nigerian Nostradamuses” that was published in an online version of The Punch. The second paragraph and part of the third of that article are the subject of this lesson. He writes:
The Nostradamuses are in business. Pastors of well known churches are prophesying what will become of us this year; and it is amusing that the utterances from different quarters contradict one another. Does the Holy Spirit, who is supposed to inspire these prophecies, speak one thing to one pastor and another thing to another? Is the Holy Spirit confusing us or perhaps, somewhere in the process of reception, the antenna got faulty and pastors are making up for Him with their own words? Really, do we need prophets to tell us what the future has in store for us? Would we be better off not knowing? What do we gain from knowing the number of artistes, rulers and celebrities that will die in the course of the year? (Abimbola Adelakun).
Mr. Abimbola has asked pertinent questions that seem to bedevil the modern day church and its prophecy. In most instances the men of God seem to sow a cacophony unparallel to the days of Moses and Jannes and Jambres, the Old prophet and the Young prophet, the prophets of Baal and Elijah, and Micaiah and Zedekiah. In this lesson I will state the infallible nature of the Holy Spirit, reasons why the pastors contradict one another and what caused the poor reception.
Initially in Israel when people went to enquire from God they went to see a Seer who spoke for God. These people were called the Seers and later were called Prophets (I Sam 9:9). The prophets spoke for God. There was a clear cut methodology to dissect a false prophet from a true prophet.
When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him (Deut 18:22).
First those who prophesy and it does not come to pass are false prophets. Many ministers knowing that their prophecies will be judged by fulfillment avert it by prophesying on things that you cannot prove. For example; in most churches now the prophets and prophetesses say: “thus says the lord, it shall be well with you, you shall not fear, you are my children. Trust in the Lord”. Those are perfunctory prophecies and redundant for the church of God. Why would anyone be going to see the seer for something that is explicitly stated in the Bible that no weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper (Is 54:17) and that that if a man ways pleases the lord he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him (Prov 16:7).
But then there lies a more complicated issue because there are many people still believing and getting confused by false prophets. They are false prophets because the Holy Spirit who will be speaking to each of them does not tell a lie, is infallible and is part of the godhead. By the time God prophesies anything through a prophet God has lived the future and knows that the thing shall come to pass. Unlike today where Christians are hypnotized with spurious prophecies that you will be rich, you will have a husband next year and you will be a doctor but none comes to fruition. When the prophecy does not happen they claim that God came to bless you but you were not there. When God was using the prophet to tell them anything it was finished product. There is no such occasion in the Bible where God spoke to a true prophet and it did not happen as prophesied. Except if they were false prophets.
In the Old Testament only three people were eligible to have the spirit of God; the King for right judgment, the priest for right sacrifice and the prophet for right utterance. When the spirit of God came to them they were mistake free. Considering that the Holy Spirit speaks to prophets these days it means that whoever the Holy Spirit speaks to them should be without mistakes. But if we see that what they are speaking is not fulfilling then they spoke in their flesh.
Many old prophets have lost the communion with God and God does not more use them. So they use their positions not only to prophesy wrongly but to stray the young prophets to be destroyed by lions (I kgs 13:11-29). There are many prophets today who prefer the accolades of earthly kings than the King of heaven. Considering that earthly kings enjoy when they are flattered no matter how they end their lives, they have many prophets dishing out false prophecies to contradict true prophets. In the midst of all these prophecies someone is speaking the truth.
Benhadad king of Syria had in mind the invasion of Israel. Though Ahab was a bad king but to prove to Ahab that God protects his own name he had to defeat the Syrians despite their numbers. When a prophet came to Ahab to assure him that God would defend Israel he knew it would be a finished product and not conditioned on what Ahab does now or later (I kings 20:13-14). Because the battle was fought on a mountain the Syrians misconstrued that God can not fight in a valley. So they declared the valley of Aphek (20; 26) as the new battlefield. God again sent another prophet who prophesied the victory of Israel (Ikgs 20:28). God kept his word thus fulfilling the prophecy of the prophet and the Syrians were this time annihilated.
When God speaks it may be strange to men. Take for example in this same chapter another prophet came up and told a man to wound him but the man refused. He prophesied doom to him that a lion was going to slay him immediately as he left him for disobeying the voice of God. Immediately as he left him, a lion came and slew him (V 35-36). A second man was asked to so same he obeyed and lived. That is because the prophet wanted a means to pass his message to the king without hindrance. He prophesied that because he had spared the life of Benhadad his life will go for him.
Prophet Elijah told Ahab that in the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine (I kngs 21:19). And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, the dogs shall eat Jezebel (Ahab’s wife) by the wall of Jezreel (I Kings 21:23). These prophesies are fulfilled in 2 kings 9:33-34.
Jehoshaphat the king of Judah and the King of Israel were to go to war. The king of Israel knew the prophets that will say the things he likes so he gathered them. As usual, they prophesied success. Then Jehoshaphat felt like something was missing. He asked if there was no other prophet and the King said there is one Micaiah but he does not like him because he always prophesies against him. The King of Israel sent for Micaiah. They briefed Micaiah to prophesy to the liking of the king because every other prophet has done so. But he refused. When he came he prophesied that Israel and Judah will lose the war.
Note that each of this prophets claims to be hearing from God. The same question you have. Then Zedekiah one of the false prophets went and slapped Micaiah on his cheek asking him why the Spirit of the Lord would leave Him Zedekiah to talk to a young man like Micaiah (2 Chro 18:7-28). Are you familiar with this?
The King of Israel ordered Micaiah to be jailed until he returned. But the man of God will not be quiet. He added another phase of the prophecy that foretold the king’s’ death in the battlefield. Indeed the king did not come back alive; for he was killed in battle (I kings 22:34-35) The dogs licked his blood just as Elijah had prophesied when he killed Naboth (I kings 22: 38)
The king relied on the prophet or seer to foretell the future before he could implement policies on the prophecy. The prophet must recognize the authority of the king as God’s political ruler on earth (I kings 1:23; Rom 13 :). Actually the prophet and Priest anointed the king. The prophet was like the check-valve to check and balance the excesses of the King
Therefore, most of the prophecies are not from God but from the prophets themselves seeing that these leaders like falsehood. They are allergic to truth. How many presidents would like advisers who always told them the truth?
Nostradamus was a French physician and astrologer who wrote a book of prophecies. The analogy should not have existed in the first place because by not separating the good prophets from the bad prophets he is inferring that there is no good prophet. The main responsibility of the Christian and others is to discern who is speaking for God and who is speaking from his flesh. That is why Jesus gave the gift of discernment to the church.
However, there are times one may think that the spirit is speaking to them and not the flesh. For example you may think that God says this girl is your wife. Though you make every effort but you do not win her love. That does not mean God told you a lie. You should instead reexamine yourself and see if God spoke to you. While the miscommunication of various prophets to earthly rulers is purely for selfish reasons the miscommunication in a person’s life are due to presumptuousness. The break down at the national level starts to occur when the prophet espy the gifts from the kings. Then they say what the king likes while the true prophet says what the king does not like. But the person who says what is fulfilled should be the one respected. Unfortunately the one that the king praises (false prophet) is usually the popular one. Humanity must discern falsehood from authenticity.
Until then, There are still true prophets on earth.

Should US Immigrants be Obliged To Learn English?

Two days we had the same debate, and today I saw it in our forum. I know it is surprising to see an immigrant who feels that any non English parent or adult who has lived in the US for more than a year should not be given translation services. English is neither my first language nor is French. It means, there are other languages I learned to my native Kenyang. Today I speak and write Spanish though with a limited proficiency, and I am learning Korean.
Take for example in Cobb County, the school system has English language classes for adults and parents. If a parent does not exploit the opportunity to learn English, why should the county still spend the Taxpayers' money to fund their laziness?
I do not think that by the Supreme Court upholding the EEOA of 1974 in Castenada v. Pickard (1981 federal) it was extending those same advantages to parents. The child needs language translation for better learning, but the parents and adults who have dropped out of school should not be given the same advantages. The language barriers that we try to avoid by introducing translation will still be there because most of the people there are immigrants who do not speak English and have refused to learn it. Thus, they rather request the whole place be converted into their language of origin.
While both the Fourteenth Amendment and Plyler v. Doe (1982) guaranteed a free public education to undocumented immigrant children, regardless of their immigrant status, they did not guarantee the same rights for non students who are English learners.
Consequently, if an individual has been in the US for more than two years, is out of school setting but does not speak English, they should not be given any translated services, except in places like the court..
This has nothing to do with racism or targeting a particular group. If a parent has lived in the US for more than two years, they should learn English. Yes, that is the road to their integration.  why move to the US, if you did not want to learn English? You knew very well that in the US they speak mostly English.
Look at my francophone brothers from Cameroon; they had only two or three languages: their native language, French and perhaps German, Spanish or Portuguese. When they were coming to the US,  they started to take language classes at the British Council or the American Language Center. Why don’t other immigrants do same?
Some people argue that they entered the country illegally. Entering the country illegally does not mean you did not know you were coming, did not know the dominant language of the US is English, or you were you repatriated or deported to the US to have been caught by surprise? Or let us say you entered illegally and did not have time to learn English but when you arrived why did you not learn it for the past two years.
The Americans are doing the immigrants a favor by accepting them into their country, so the immigrants should seize the opportunity to integrate.
However, while it is necessary for everybody in the US to speak English it is wrong to refuse services to anyone on basis that they do not speak English. Those signs are reminiscent of the Whites Only!
I have seen many local missionaries learn local languages before they lived in the village or else they hired interpreters at their own expense. It is only bad if we have to pay for the laziness of individuals who refuse to take even language classes. I see many immigrants dropping their pants. When you ask them they say they are in America. They only know they are in America when it comes to sagging their pants but not learning English.
Until then, tasking immigrants to learn English is not a bad thing at all!

Do You Face Stereotypes In The US?

Hahahha, I always laugh when people ask me this question. I was motivated to share these stories after reading another one from a guy about the two black men who met a white lady in the elevator. One of them asked his friend to hit the floor (the elevator floor button) and the woman laid on her stomach thinking they were asking her to hit the floor so they could rob her. They helped her gather her bucket of coins as she rose to the shame of her stereotypes.
I was coming from one party at about 2:30 A.M. Most of you know that even if African parties started at crepuscule they will go till dawn. So I am driving and I saw a car with double trafficators. I began looking closely if I could see if the person needs help. Usually I help those I know I can stand them physically if the devil took over them and thy wanted my car. So I looked at this girl standing by the side of her car waving. I thought she was a decoy for some thieves so I passed but my conscience began judging me so I came back to pick her up. Stepping out of my car she was walking slowly to her car and I told her not to be afraid. I asked her to use my cell phone and call her home and tell them that I wanted to give her a ride. She told me that she had called them but no one was answering. So I said just call and leave a message that if anything happens to you then they should hold this guy.
I took her home and the first question that came out of her mother’s mouth was where did you pick him up? I could hear her whisper the question with much surprise and disappointment. The daughter told her that her car broke down and I was just giving her a ride. Now I am curious trying to see what her mother was made up off. I pretended like I did not know how to use the home phone. They asked me how long I have been here. I said I just moved her. Indeed I was just moving to that city though not new to the US. So I asked for the phone to make a call to my house. I held the phone upside down as she laughed and told her daughter in little whispers he does not even know how to use the phone. Then later I told them I was leaving.
As she walked me to the road she asked me what I did in life. I told her that I was a teacher here and actually have been living here for about 6 years. Then she asked how then did I know not how to use the home phone. I said I was just teasing your parents since I heard her question you where you picked me up. She felt so bad and told me “actually my parents are not bad people. I don’t know why she said what she said”. Indeed she is not bad; she merely has stereotypes. Perhaps she said to herself: “this guy with another accent should be another bushman we watch over CNN and Fox News”.
The second was when I was going to do my taxes. I saw a car in the turning late with double blinkers. I was hurrying for my appointment time and so did not stop. But when I was coming back I stopped and parked my car by the side of the road. Walked to the car and saw two elderly ladies sitting in the car. I tried for them to open their car but I guess seeing a black man they thought I was coming to rob them in broad day light. So they did not open. I hit the door again and requested with gestures they put down the glass. They did, then I told them that I was going to do my taxes and I saw them sitting in the car. I have gone, done my taxes and they are still there. Can I help them? One of them said actually she had called her daughter but she is at work. I said I will help them. They said their battery was dead. I went and bought a cable, came and jumpstarted them. The car started but died almost half a mile ahead. So I told them I will start it then drive behind them. I did that until they reached their home. I did not step out of my car so that their conscience may judge them for their poor stereotype. Did you know this was a white area? Yet everyone passed them by without giving a thought.
A third was an African American church I wanted to work with. The pastor told me he has made up his mind never to deal with Africans because they are dishonest. I asked him if he had ever had a tooth ache. He said yes, then I said did you extract all your teeth? He said no. Then I said so why not. He said because not all were bad. Then I said then not all Africans are bad and I left.
Just of recent I saw a young lady in my school. I greeted her and she did not seem to reply. I left her alone. I was on duty monitoring the hall way. So I kept seeing her looking bewildered and troubled. She went round and came back to my spot. So I asked her if she needed help but she told me no. She came back about three times and all three times I asked her if she needed help. Then the fourth time I saw her and said you look lost. She agreed and said she was looking for room 405. I said listen; I asked you this several times if you needed help but you did not want to talk to me. Actually she was a new teacher coming to the school. So I directed her. The next time I saw her she was looking for the media center. But this time she walked to me and asked without hesitation.
Sometimes I go to a church and do not even give the slightest idea I have read the Bible. I went to this church and they were teaching me how to pray. The teacher kept making me to repeat one useless prayer that only God knows why. Hahahahaha!
Another one was in a church. The pastor would teach and would ask everyone on my pew questions except me. He will be asking people questions and when he reaches me he will skip. I figured out he felt like this guy should be very ignorant so I don’t want to embarrass him. Then they had Bible studies and got stuck on a verse. People were giving their own ideas and the pastor kept saying that was not it. The "specialists" and leaders tried but could not satisfy him. Then he said is there anyone in this hall who thinks something different. I put my hand up and unraveled the oracles of the Lord taking the message in the Old Testament and linking it to the New Testament. Then he turned and asked me: why did you let us do all of this while you sat there. As from next week please come and teach us.
One time I was to take a gifted course. The teacher rejected me from taking the class because English is not my first language. So she told me in front of the other colleagues that I don’t think you should take this class because English is not your first language. I smiled and I insisted that I wanted to take the class. I did nto realize it until another white female colleague brought that to my attention; apologizing that it was rude for her to say what she said to me. For me it was merely a stereotype and I had to prove her wrong. When I wrote my article she asked me if I copied it from somewhere. I told her to research and if she found it anywhere she should reject the paper and I will redo it. Useless to say she did not find anything.
The worst one is the one where a lady asked me how many wives I had. I said I had 10. She asked: "where are the wives"? I said they are here with me. Then she said "well don‘t allow anyone to know because because if they know they gonna lock your ass up. We don’t play that shit here"! Then I told her I was just intending to ask her to be my wife number Eleven. She screamed and cursed me: “mother f..ker are you dam out of your mind”? I said no, you will make perfect Number Eleven and if you keep wasting time you will be Number Twelve. She got up and left. Hahahaha. Who ever told them that all Africans are polygamists is only God who knows.
Then one was where I was working somewhere. They had to teach some three people how to use and temporary repair the “complex” copier. We were four people sitting in the lunchroom and they selected the other three. Then they told our Head of Department (one of those selected) that she tells the rest of her staff that anyone who has not taken lessons to operate this machine should not do so. They should only copy and leave the machine alone. Pointless to say I sat there and watched them do their foolishness as I looked carefully on everything they were doing. I went back home read on how the machine operates and everything and sat quiet. Needless to tell you that I became the main repair man that at times before the real repairers from the company come I tell them what part is bad. The guy had just imagined that this guy from Africa would mess up this thing if we let him touch it. Hahahaha
During my last visit to Richardson Texas to attend Daniel’s graduation I was dressed in my Arican attire. This guy I guess thinks that everybody who dresses like that is a Muslim. So he greeted me in Arabic: “a- salam alaikum” (peace be unto you) and I responded “malekum salam” (And also with you). He was so excited but I was laughing at his stereotype. It seems he does not know that most Africans dress like Muslims but are not Muslims. The dressing with gowns is not only for Muslims.
It is still very strange to me that in the 21st century some people are still judging others not by virtue of their character but by virtue of their skin color and stereotypes. If you had a country of only white or black people there will still be crime because crime is in the nature of man and not his or her skin color.
Until then, do unto others what you want them do unto you.

Am I Sinning By Lusting After a Beautiful Woman?

“We will first define both terms, show their manifestations and their relationship then draw a line where lust ends and where sin starts.

What is sin?
Paul tells the Romans that: “for whatsoever is not of faith is sin” (Rom 14:23). James tells the believers: “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” (James 4:17). John says: “for sin is the transgression of the law” (John 2:3). He amplifies it later by saying: “All unrighteousness is sin” (John 5:17). Take note of the theme of predilection: falling short. In others words sin is falling short of accomplishing the law.

What is lust?
Lust is the strong desire or craven for the forbidden. That means you have God here and the devil on the other side. “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (I jn 2:16-17).

Manifestation
Since we were made to worship God (Eccl 12:13) then our desire should be towards God. But if you love God and love the devil then you are lusting after the world. As you lust after the world, you start to conform to the world to a point where you mingle and are spotted together. This then makes you a friend to the world and an enemy to God and thenceforth lust conceives and gives birth to sin. We become closer to our desire that our righteousness does not exceed that of the Pharisees and scribes.

Relationship!
The relationship between lust and sin is that lust conceives sin (James 1:15). That means: lust on its own is not sin but a gateway to sin. Just by seeing a beautiful girl and lusting after her is not a sin. Your first question would be then why did Jesus say: “but I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Mt 5:28). What Jesus is saying is that if any man would look at a beautiful woman and allow his desire to take control over him then he has sinned already. If not by the same Bible saying: “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death” then we are left in some contradiction.

Even when lust conceives sin, it is merely lying on our door (Gen 4:7). Except we open the door it will not come in. Even in the OT days where worship was physical the sin of ignorance was not forgiven (Lev 4:2 Lev 5:15). In Eph 4:26 the Bible says let us be angry but let our anger not lead us into sin. How can anyone be angry and not sin? That means anger by nature is not sin.

How to deal with sin:
Timothy tells the people that the best way to deal with sin is to rebuke those who sin openly (I Tim 5: 20). That does not reject “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted” (Gal 6:1). But if they refuse to be restored then follow the guidelines of I Corinthians 5:9-13. Let us exhort one another daily. In summation, when someone sins, rebuke them openly, try to reinstate them back, if they refuse restoration then excommunicate them from fellowship. But daily exhort each other.

How to deal with lust:
The only way to avoid lusting is to walk in the Spirit (Gal 5:16). That way you will worship God in spirit and in truth.

Until then, lust is not sin.

Go for the person who loves you most and not the one you love most for the one you love most may not give you the love you need most because though love is blind marriage is an eye-opener” (Hamilton Ayuk).

Is the Black Race Cursed?

I have heard this same argument for a long time and have written articles per the arguments raised. This time, the crux of my discourse will be dismantling the assertion that God cursed Cain and “put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin” as stated by Brigham Young. It is expedient that we take time to reconsult the passage of the said allegation: Genesis 4: 1-16. There is neither anywhere in this passage indicating that God flattened his nose nor did He recolor him black. To have a better grasp of the passage, we will look at the punishment for Cain and try to make some horizontal hermeneutics.
Firstly, let me say that there is only one race: Homo sapiens (the human being). As you know, the setting for this story is on the borders of Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey because of the landmarks of the four rivers: Pishon, Gihon, Tigris and Euphrates (Gen 2:8-14). Eden was located on the north of Rivers Tigris and Euphrates, and the north of these rivers is Turkey then our immediate setting is Turkey. Modern History and Archaeology teach you that Homo sapiens came from Africa. That means, when God had created Mankind, he then created a garden a little bit further around the twin rivers to serve as playground for them. If you believe the history of the Bible is infallible and authentic, then the first man: Adam and the first woman: Eve whom God created were not put in another garden but in Eden, and Eden has been shown to you. Thenceforth, they migrated through their descendants to fill the earth. Therefore, every human being: living or dead came from the same physical parents (Adam and Eve) and from one Maker: God from Egypt before scattering worldwide. God did not make man in the garden of Eden; he merely placed him there when he wanted him to have a place to play.

Secondly, not to belabor this point we concur with biological empiricism that skin colors are different due to different amounts of melanin. That again correlates with biblical evidence since God created only Adam and Eve, and they had the same skin color. Thus, skin color has nothing to do with divine imprecation. The curse of Noah on Sham was on his descendants by the way and not on him. Consequently, if he was already black, how would the curse have been to make him black? Nonetheless, we know that the descendants of Ham were black because they were the Canaanites who were all black, yet that is due to the amount of melanin.
Thirdly, the Lord cursed the labor of Cain to be fruitless. It was a step further to the punishment God gave Adam (Gen 3: 17-19). Already the ground was cursed for every man. Adam and his progeny will have to work hard and only eat from the sweat of their labor. Today, every man struggles to put food on his table. If God was to repeat the same thing, then Cain has not taken any punishment because apart from bearing the original sin which he inherits from Adam per the Federal Head Theory, he needed to bear the brunt of his progressive sin. We all do bear the punishment for our progressive sins by going to jail for murder, drunken driving, adultery or slander. Cain’s amercement was that even out of his sweat, he will not be able to produce much. In other words; Cain will have to work double than the normal man to put the same amount of food on his table. Is this only for the Dark Skinned (Black people)?
Fourthly, don’t we see miserable Negros like Caucasians? Is suffering limited only to the Dark Skinned? If it was only the Dark Skinned who are suffering then one would say that the black people are descendants of Cain; thus, he was cursed. Furthermore, it is not only the Dark Skinned who have flat or rounded noses; almost all Asians have flat noses. There are also Africans (black) with long pointed noses too. So why would the curse be only for a few Africans; meanwhile, it is the curse on the entire black race, and they make the majority of black people. As a result, some Africans having a flat rounded nose is not a sign of the curse on the Black Race.
Fifthly, the Bible neither states the type of mark nor that his nose was flattened. All the Lord did was “set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.” It is theologically weak and sociological destructive to state that the Black race (if any such thing exists) is cursed. It is not not only black people who commit crimes or only white people are serial killers.

Until then, may we all live as from the same Maker.

Does unconscious unconfessed sin affect our fellowship with God?

Confess and forsake and you obtain mercy because if you cover them you will not prosper (prov 28:13). This refers to the daily infractions we commit. If it meant original sin, then it would be sin in singular. The original sin that brought us a nature of death is forgiven once we believe with our hearts and confess with our mouths that God raised him from the dead (Rom 10:9-10). That runs contrary to the belief that once Jesus died, he forgave all sins. Not at all! You may have a thousand toothbrushes and ten tons of Colgate but if you do not use them to brush your teeth, your teeth will not be cleaned.
However, since we have an evil nature now, we confess each time we sin and we are forgiven. If you have the Holy Spirit in you, He will remind you of all sins. The comforter will teach and remind you of sins (Jn 14:26). When the Holy Spirit comes, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment (Jn 16:8).
Consequently, there is no way anyone will forget their sin to incur the wrath of God. Therefore, we must stay in the spirit so that our spirits can in turn communicate with the Spirit of God.
Nonetheless, if after the Holy Spirit has reminded us and we refuse to confess or confess and refuse to forsake, then we invite the wrath of God for the punishment of that sin.
Until then, our sins will withhold good things from us (Jer 5:25).

The Tentacles of Truth

Agbor-ndip was a prolific farmer who marked all his goats when they reached a certain age. It reached the turn of one goat and it began to run away from the old man. Agbor-Ndip decided to set a leg trap. One day before he came back to the farm the animal was suspended in the air. He brought it down and then this time put a large mark on its back “Why go through all that pain only to be caught back and marked”? He asked the goat. Oh well, many people act like that with truth.

In 2003 a male student complained to me that his football coach did not want to select him for the football team. I asked him if he knew why. He told me they said he can’t run. So I said to him in these words: “son, you need to cut down your weight; you are too fat for your age”! “My mom says I am ok” he retorted. I said: “listen to me; if I do not tell you this then I am failing in my duties to guarantee you a better future”. The whole class murmured and said that was too mean. Allergic to truth I guess!

One day I ran into him in the grocery store. He told me that he had been thinking about what I told him last time. He attempted entering into the army but they rejected him that he was too fat. “I am now eating mostly fruits and vegetables”. I paid for his purchase for that day and encouraged him to keep it up. Had he listened to me before, he would not have lost opportunity of going into the army. He thought he could run away from truth but it ended up catching him.

In 2005 I had a student complained that I did not like her because I kept grading her stuff wrongly. She was not receptive to corrections. She kept complaining and quickly teamed up with other students to slander me. So I left her alone and did no more make any corrections. She passed the class and went to another teacher. She took other Language Arts courses and passed. Then one day she came to me that she has failed the High School Graduation Test twice. I looked at the report; it suggested she works on the same aspects I had recommended. After a third try she was scheduled back into my class so I can help her. Had she faced the truth the first time she would not have wasted all that time after all; all two of her classmates who came and were not even speaking English did so well that they were inducted into the national honor society with GPAs of 3.87 and 3.72. She thought she could run away from truth but it ended up catching her.

Theresia was a mboh girl we grew up together. She had introduced a young man to me and I told her that that guy would not be good to her. She told me that the guy was hot: handsome and with money. There was another youngster that loved her and was ready to die in her place. He used to even treat me so I can sell his case to her. Theresia refused to listen to me and went with the guy she loved most but did not love her most.

After two years of marriage the boy gave her STDs and crowned it with HIV, ran away, and left her to die in solitude. One day Theresia wrote me an epistle as her body awaited the least breath to depart to our Maker. She ended with these words: “I am sorry for not listening to you. Please don’t be angry with me, send me some little money if you have let me try to hold on till my day comes”. Two weeks later she left this world. She thought she could run away from truth but it ended up catching her.

Some people are plain destitute of truth while others cannot just stand truth. They are allergic to truth at all times; they just don’t have any truth in them. Nowadays many people are not known to speak the truth. The banner of the people who fear God should be truth. But if you think that way then you could merely be naïve. If anyone would choose the way of truth they will be friends with truth. Those who run away from truth make a life span error since they will still meet Him either as a friend or enemy. But He shall surely catch up with them. To be truthful is to be righteous. Like I always tell people; truth does not need a memory; lies do. If you do not have it; buy it and do not sell it. Truth does not fail so those who do not depart from it, never fall prey to evil.

Until then, run not away from truth for that is the bed of your happiness.

The Ayitos (Divisive Elements) Of Manyu in the USA: Part 8

Sesekou Ebini Christmas,
You know that a title holder does not call himself his title; people do for it to be meaningful. That means; for people to call you, you must belong in the community. You can go to the village and have the greatest title but again you must integrate your immediate community for that title to be meaningful. Unlike a religious title that is transcultural and cosmic that everyone recognizes, Ekpe titles aren’t.
You see, Kima is not in Ekpe and has not been authorized to talk on Ekpe but I have by virtue of my religious standing. Even the greatest of Sesekou has to confess his sins during ablution. So I will adjure you to tread softly so we can all walk as a team.
I do not see reproducing history as holding to the past. If I as a man of God cannot rebuke hypocrisy who should. You call me to responsibility but you do not want me to reprimand the evil past which continues in the present and espies the future. I merely reminded Sesekou Barachel that if he took the same people to the same Mamfe why does he claim now that our parents at home have better things to do than solve problems from the US. That is playing the Old Prophet. He should have thought of that when he was taking them there himself.
However, I attach a price to peace. That is why I have worked indefatigably to bring peace. Perhaps you are not aware of Ekpe rules. Let me tell you this then. Every Sesekou has the right to his lodge and any unfair treatment may cause him to withdraw from the general Ekpe and you will do him nothing. In others words the Sesekou with lodges seem untouchables.
Consequently, since the other Sesekous have refused to go to Ojong-orock he cannot force them. And he does not have the means to enforce the decisions on them unlike back home.
Now let me tell you why the same behavior would be counterproductive at home. If the paramount Sesekou orders you to do anything and you refuse to follow, he will fine you and if you refuse to pay then they will register in heir books. The day you die you will be forced to pay all of them before you are buried. But here is why the decision can be enforceable; because most lodges at home work as one unit under the general Ekpe of the village, region and Mamfe. Once you fail to pay a fine the matter is transferred to your village Ekpe who will prohibit any villager from dealing with you in addition to unorthodox means employed.
The paramount Sesekou Ojong-orock has to be wise to pass a verdict he can enforce else he becomes a laughingstock. Take for example the decision of Mr. Ako Peter to dismiss Sesekou Solomon, Dr Ashu Ndep and Mrs. Mary Awung etc. That decision is not enforceable because first MECA is an association of associations. That means the people of DC can decide to withdraw their chapter from the general MECA USA if they do not like the decision especially seeing that the supporters of Solomon outnumber the rest. Secondly, how would he implement the decision? He must go to DC to request that the decision be enforced and to the best of my knowledge it will not happen.
Sesekou Ojong-orock has preached peace and practiced peace. I will agree with you that he should have gone to their doors to knock and call them out. But look at it this way; I tried the same thing and it almost ended me ridicule when I was asked to leave a private residence. Thank God that the rest of the people stood behind me that if I left they will leave. But that is because I am a man of the people. But Ojong-orock is not the man of the family that those families will tell their father and husband that if he leaves we will also leave!
Sesekou Ebini Christmas, the deal is simple. With my high acumen and prowess in conflict resolutions, I have solved many problems and now look like a dotard. My peace initiatives have always been forever. That is because I use Jesus’ style. The Lord Jesus has taught us to call evil by its name. In every problem both sides have a little blame to share but there is one with the biggest blame. That person should be called to responsibility. While Sesekou Ojong-orock has not gone to their houses to bring peace, Sesekou Barachel should resign from that rebellious position of Chairman of Mgbe North America which is just a renegade group and submit to Sesekou Ojong-orock per tradition. I have written a blueprint for the peace of this community but I wonder why you do not encourage them to follow it. Have you quickly forgotten that you wrote on Manyunet that Sesekou Barachel had promised to meet Sesekou Ojong-orock in October to solve their problems? Hitherto, he has not gone there.
There are certain behaviors that we really need this community to come together so we can stampede them first before thinking of home. Look, I hear some members of Ekpe still beat their wives. I hear members of Ekpe insulting adults in meetings. I hear members of Ekpe sleeping around like dogs. All these behaviors are against the ethics of Ekpe. Ekpe members are not supposed to get drunk and misbehave in the public or private.
I do not want you to talk about calling the police or getting the law involved. If the American law could solve all those problems then we would not have those same problems again. But as you know, despite the many courts and lawyers in America cheating is the number one problem causing divorce. That is because it has to be eradicated from the conscience as we act as one and watch each other’s back. Even though Ekpe people at home committed adultery, slept around, and fought, got drunk and misbehaved when they were caught they were fined and the number was too insignificant to what it is in our Diaspora. The mores of our community in the Diaspora need a total overhaul.
Until then, I wish the Manyu people in America greater peace this year.

New Low in Internet Mischief.

Now those who do not like someone can go and become friends with your friends in a newtwork. Then when you write something to your friend on let's say Facebook, they copy it, appear on forums with a fake name and then try to embarrass you. The world is getting more and more mischievous. Where will someone really live his life in peace? You are in a forum and people who do not even know you use fake names to claim they know you and vent out their tantrums. I guess my friend Mukefor was right that the best way is just to stay away from forums and these public places where you meet useless individuals like this.
The bad thing in this all is that you do not have time to glance through the list of friends that your friends have especially when you see people having 1000 and more friends. I had about 15-20 on Facebook and I considered those too many because what I understand by friendship is different from the lose term people use. When I say I am your friend, I am ready to cry with you in real life when you cry and to be with you when I can. Your problems are my problems, and your joy is my joy. If your car broke down, you can wake me up to come pick you up or stand there with you until triple A or the insurance company sends you another car. That is friendship and not just a place where you come to write how we were drunk at the club yesterday, and this girl was carrying you on her back.
According to what I have heard about things like Facebook is that those friends on these networks just carry the name friends; they are not real friends. There too I have a problem because then we are living an artificial life. That is how you have 1000 people you call your friends, but you are lonely. I better stay alone and know that I have no friends than to have 3 people I call my friends that I cannot see or speak too as friends.
The most devastating effect with this type of behavior is that we forfeit the idea of promise keeping; after all, they are not our real friends. If you are attacked in a forum, you do not know who brought that information to the forum. It will be indicting to even the good people on your list as your friends since you do not know who or through whom that information has been given out. My mother used to say that when you live in a big house and your thing is missing, never say someone stole my thing because you make even the good people feel very guilty and uneasy even though they have no hand in it since they don’t know if you think they are the ones who stole your thing. Just say: "does anyone know where my thing is; I misplaced it!" So in a public forum too you cannot accuse everyone for having given out your information since though it seems private, it is not really private.
Then you have your boss too spying on you, trying to see with whom you hang out and how you hang out. When you are not too savvy on how to play the game and you write anything, then someone has you cheap. The world is getting more and more mischievous people!
Until then, watch your backs.

They Call Him Terrorist!

A terrorist by its simplest of definitions is anyone who uses violence to achieve political objectives. The word became rampant only after 9/11. Consequently the Middle East and Palestinians, Mandela and ANC, Osama and other Jihardists, Independence Freedom fighters of West Africa and Asia, Homegrown terrorists and even countries like the US, Russia that use war to achieve political aims like democracy and socialism are terrorists. Israel too would be a terrorist nation to the Palestinian. There could be state sponsored terrorism as seen when the US invaded and occupied Guam in 1898 until today. The news that ricochets in the attacking country is that those resisting are terrorists. My task this morning will be to differentiate between terrorists and Freedom Fighters.
Therefore this tag and stigma will be very subjective depending on who is using the term. For example: during the first Indochina war from 1946-54 the French called it “Indochina War” and the Vietnamese called it “The French War”. In the second Indochina War (1959-1975) the Americans called it the “Vietnam War” but the Vietnamese called it “The American war in Vietnam”. According to the Vietnamese, the French and the Americans are the aggressors as such they could be called the terrorists. On the other hand the French regarded the freedom fighters as terrorists and the Americans considered the Vietcong; terrorists. But ask any of the Vietnamese fighters they will tell you they are freedom fighters; fighting to liberate their land.
Another example is the use of the word “Maquisard” (UPC freedom fighters). The French and Ahidjo government called anyone fighting them Maquisards (equivalent of the term terrorist) but people like Um Nyobe, Ernest Ouandie and Felix Moumie were called “Les liberateurs”. They were fighting to unseat the French who were colonizing them and the French considered them as terrorists. So who are the Maquisards? Isn’t the colonizer?
A third example is when the Arabs say suicide bombers but the Americans and British say homicide bombers. To the Arabs they are killing themselves to show their plight but the West considers them killing innocent people. Indeed one easily agrees with the West that it should be called homicide bombers because there is no reason killing the innocent American, British or Israeli who is on his or her vacation just because his or her country has bad policies. Who told you that every American, British, Israeli agrees with every foreign policy their government employs?
I have been privileged to preach in some of the Bassa regions and there is not a single Bassa who calls Um Nyobe Maguisard: (guerrilla) terrorist. The Palestinians and many Arabs call Israel a terrorist state. The problem with that is that Israel has the right to exist which the Arabs and Palestinians adamantly reject. No matter how they are appeased they only want to annihilate Israel. In that case Israel is fighting for survival. As such Israel is the freedom fighter while the Palestinians and Arabs are the terrorists: using violence to achieve political aims.
Yet there lies another serious consideration for the term when you consider what happened in America on 9/11. The terrorists murdered people not for political but for religious reasons. Look at what happened in Mumbai, India just of recent . In 2005 a resort beach hotel was bombed by people fighting for nothing indeed; just targeting foreigners . In November 2002 an Israeli owned resort hotel in Kenya was bombed, many people were killed and Al Qaeda claimed responsibility . Take note again in November just like in Bali and Mumbai. It should also be noted that all these attacks are orchestrated by Muslims fundamentalists that reechoes the assertion that Islam is a violent religion. These types of killings do not really further any cause; rather they lose empathy and create more alienation of the perpetrators.
On the contrary, those who used violence for political gains in Latin America (Che Guevara), Asia (Viet Cong) and Africa (FLN of Algeria, Jomo Kenyatta, Robert Mugabe, Jonas Savimbi, Julius Nyerere, Ndabaningi Sithole, Mandela, Tabo Mbeki, Jacob Zuma and the crops of Cameroon like Um Nyobe, Felix Moumie and Ernest Oundie in the 19th century cannot be qualified as terrorists even though initially the oppressors did. That is why Mandela was in the US national books as a terrorist. These are nationalists fighting for the liberation of their national front. Those in Bali, Mobassa and Mumbai are not. They are merely using terror to achieve private aims. Those are the terrorists!

There is a major difference between the Kamikaze and suicide bomber. While the Kamikaze was fighting to defend is national territory the suicide bomber is not. It is one of those cases where religion has gone wrong and the hermeneutics have led the manslayers to believe they will obtain virgins in heaven when they meet Allah.
The dynamics of this world have changed that everywhere terror strikes someone near to you must perish. Therefore, it may not be the best of methods to achieve political aims since looking back at Muñoz Rivera who fought the US by law up to a point of making Puerto Rico a US territory, Mahamat Gandhi (Satyagraha) and Jawarharalal Nehru, Martin Luther King Jr (Civil Rights) and Nelson Mandela (Non Violence) one realizes peaceful demonstrations would achieve a political aim. Nowadays in the 21st century the populace and masses are more receptive in joining demonstrations as compared to in the 20th Century as we have seen in Orange Revolution, Pakistan of recent and Ghana.
In addition to the politicians, the creative writer, journalists, teachers, lawyers and other professionals should thrust themselves as the first freedom fighter of their cause. The world is now a small village and no need for terrorism: individual or state. Nationals and individuals should strive to go to the polls or follow the examples of Ukrain and Pakistan. Ghana is teaching the brutes of Africa (military juntas) that the time for armed conflicts to gain power has expired. Now we live in era where the internet and other technologies create a ready soapbox for anyone with the volition to bring change to do so without lifting a gun.
Until then, I wish people will stop killing one another!

Parasites of Change.

How ludicrous it sounds that Cameroonians and Africans are excited to pay $300.00 per table for the Obama inaugural to sit and identify themselves with the change that others have brought BUT they refuse to bring change in their own countries.
Cameroon Diaspora was given the golden opportunity to make a statement by rejecting the amendment of the constitution to prevent Comrade Biya from running in 2011 but they sold that opportunity for change for pottage. I did not know that we are excited about change. The majority of the white establishment was tired of having the same failed system that rather than bring them joy and prosperity has inflicted them with pain and poverty, stripped them bare naked from world leadership and made them a laughingstock to little known states.
Cameroon fits well in that analogy. Almost every system presently in Cameroon is in sham and shambles. From education to the judiciary, social deportment to psychological identity Cameroon is an eyesore. Cameroonians and Africans identify themselves with foreign countries than their own countries. We have been in the longest recession a country could experience. Yet, we saw it fit to encourage Comrade Biya to run for another term. How embarrassing that we are squeezing into the change of others like parasites. Yes, parasites we are; living off others! While you sit on any of those tables let your consciences silently cry Parasite I am!
Well, it is not late. When you come out of that place, reassemble quickly and send a mail to Comrade Biya and urge ELECAM to be independent like Pakistan, Ghana, and other places where democracy was in the pockets of others.
Note that whether you do it or not change shall come. Change does not bargain with the forces of repression. It may tarry but it shall come to pass! The whirlwind of change is blowing everywhere; we must change or change will change us but this time forcefully and bitterly. No one has ever won the battle against change. At times it is a protracted war of attrition but it definitely has a bittersweet end because the society is not an automaton but a horse; if pressed too hard it will rebel against its oppressors this time with such impunity that takes no prisoners.
Therefore, people of Cameroon and Africa; rejoice not in the change that others have brought for most of you did not contribute to any of it. After all; the number of you with the American franchise is too Lilliputian to have brought this meaningful change. Where you have the numbers and franchise to change the forces of regression and backwardness is in Cameroon and Africa. It is not a bad thing to drink from wells that others have dug but learn to dig yours so that when you leave this world you mush have contributed to some meaningful change to say the least.

Until then, Parasites enjoy the change of others!

Worthwhile ending the Old Year and starting the New Year in Church?

Every year there are a couple of traditions that are scrupulously followed. So 2009 was not different. On New Year’s Eve, people spend the rest of the seconds or even hours in a church because they want to end the Old Year and start the New Year with God. Great job; no problem at all! Then there are those with New Year resolutions. But before then there are many who have sent out peace and New Year wishes. This morning I will consider these three traditions so that you see the futility or utility in all that we do. There is a reason why despite us starting the year in church that year did not bring us any good. Do you want me to tell you why?
What is the need of wishing someone you do not want to see or smell a happy New Year? There are some people you wished “Happy 2008” but until the year elapsed, you neither spoke with them nor try to enquire how the year was going for them. Then this year you are doing the same tradition sending cards, emails and text messages. Wilt thou know, O vain man or woman, that faith without works is dead? Why do people wish someone they have been quarrelling with peace without extending a hand of peace in the New Year? Wouldn’t the peace start from them?
One common tradition that the majority does is going into the church to start the year. First let me state that with the death of Jesus the temple of God shifted from a building to the human body. Thus the best way is to dedicate or rededicate for those who have not done that your body. The church is supposed to be clean but you and I know that nowadays the church is more a den of thieves; looking to pilfer and swindle from you rather than seek to safe your soul from damnation. Your house could be holier than the church. It would even be nice to stay at home with your family and pray to God because you know how you live but you do not know how the next person lives. You repent of your sins but the next person may not be willing and their presence is merely hindering prayers because “if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Ps 66;18).
Therefore, call your enemies and apologize to them. Tell them if you wronged them they should forgive you. Write down a list of your peccadilloes and shortcomings of 2008, then confess and determine to forsake them so you could obtain mercy. If you want all other things to be added unto you this 2009, then you must seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness.
You and I know it is no righteousness to seize someone’s husband or wife. There is no righteousness in not talking with your parents for years because you are mad. Where is the righteousness in stealing from your neighbor and sending him on retirement with nothing? Would you tell me the righteousness in doing drugs? So do you see why the previous years though we started them in church but brought us no peace and happiness?
We have been trekking too far to search, seek or knock on doors for things that are beside us. Every year you made 20 New Year resolutions but each year finishes with you on number 4. O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him (Ps 34:9). I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread (Ps 37:25). And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life (Mk 10:29-30).
Until then, seek God; the Giver of 2009 and your year will be wonderful.

Prince & PA Hamilton Ayuk.
